Here we go again…
I had been going back and forth about whether or not I was going to put up decorations for St Patrick’s Day and had finally decided I wasn’t going to do it {it’s SO MUCH work!}
I mean really, Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, wasn’t that enough?
And then I was at a shop in town the other day and the cashier asked me if I was planning on putting up any decorations for St. Patrick’s Day…Which I thought was HILARIOUS.
And in an instant, everything changed.
I told her that in fact YES I was planning on decorating for St. Patrick’s Day and I was hoping to have them up next week.
And then I went home and told the HH he was going to have to break out his saw again and cut some more buoys.
He was less than thrilled. HA HA HA.
But you’re so good at making buoys… You’ve got it down now. Can’t you whip out a few more? Oh and while you’re at it you might as well knock out some for Easter too.
Because HELLO, it appears everyone in town is expecting it now.
Okay, so maybe not everyone. Maybe just a few. But it really is SO MUCH fun to see the look on people’s faces when they drive by. It’s fun to see the double takes.
And to see people out front with smiles on their faces. Some people even bring their dogs along and have them pose in front of the house and buoys.
It’s silly and crazy and a little serendipitous and I love it. I love everything about the way this whole little “art insulation” is unfolding.
I may not have time to finish painting my bathroom, but there’s always time to paint just one more buoy.
So here we go again. It looks like I’ll be pulling a few shifts at the buoy factory this weekend.
Stay tuned… More pictures coming soon.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Just think, your year of “firsts” will be done, and decorating will just involve putting up and taking down. However, I think you will need to do a Thanksgiving or Fall theme (giant fall leaves etc…), and your collection will be complete. The Red, White, and Blue theme can last from Memorial Day to Labor Day. What a fun thing to do!

I agree with Renee … this first year will be the most work but how fabulous that you have the room (and organizational skills) to store all the separate holiday decor! How do you store some of the buoys that work double-shift with two different holidays? Inquiring minds want to know
Looking forward to the next pictures … that shade of green is perfection!

Awe, that is so neat people are getting photos with their dogs! You are bringing smiles to so many with your decorations! Nice touch on the buoys with green and white lobster shamrock theme and great job inspiring the community! Looking forward to seeing it all decked out- especially this spring/summer when everything is in bloom! Way to go, Team Mavis and HH!

Last time I predicted you were going to need to add St Patrick’s to your list.
I was looking at your holidays and thinking what else you’d need to add. Halloween maybe? And while not a holiday I had a pictured cute little pencil buoys for back to school in my head (we don’t even do public school and start our new school year in June but pencil buoys would just be too cute)

Totally doing pencil buoys!!! Thanks for idea Carrie!

Pencil buoys and maybe apples on the house! Love this!
Mavis Butterfield says
Yes to the apples!!! Go team. We are figuring this out as we go along. I LOVE it!

I love, love, love this! I am sure your community can’t wait to see this each season. What a fun-filled way to bring joy! Your husband is a keeper and the best sport to help facilitate all your schemes!!!
Also, definitely more exciting than painting a bathroom!

Have you considered adding the buoys to your Etsy shop? Don’t tell HH where the idea came from 😀

HA HA HA.

You might get away with nothing for Memorial Day but the 4th of July is coming. You might be able to do red, white and blue from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Mavis Butterfield says
There will be an American Flag for Memorial Day. You can count on it.
