That stinks! Nobody wants to have to pay for utilities, lawn care etc. when they aren’t even living there.
So then as I was watering my new planted corn this morning, I got to thinking: she does have a few nice raised garden beds in her backyard that are going to go unused all summer long. Nice composted garden beds. I wish I had a few more myself to grow some more veggies in.
Wait a minute? What if…
What if I struck a deal with her ? I’ll go down and mow her lawn/sweep off the porch once a week thru fall if she would let me use her garden beds/water (I love gardening but lugging 10 gallons of water down the street every few days, well, that’s where I draw the line). Basically, let me use your garden beds and I will mow your lawn.
It sounded like a deal to me, so I sent her an email about my proposal. Later today I talked to my handsome husband and told him about my great idea “OMG…are you kidding me? Why did you do that? They are going to think we are a bunch of hillbillys wanting to grow food and crap in their yard. What’s wrong with you?” Men…what’s wrong with THEM?
So, my super nice neighbor replied to my email saying YES please mow our lawn. You can use the garden boxes..and the water. We will even leave you a hose and a gift card for gas for your mower. By all means, use our garden boxes.
Oh happy day to me! Hmmmm… now I just have figure out what I am going to grow.
