I know, I know, you probably are already hunting for eggs, but when my kids were little, we always had to wait for everyone to arrive BEFORE we could actually start hunting. If you are in the same boat, here’s a quick scavenger hunt they can do while they are waiting for the big show:
- Basket
- Pastel colored ribbon {if you have little ones {or boys, ha!}, you may have to explain to them what pastel means}
- Jelly beans
- Carrot
- Chocolate Bunny
- Picture of Easter Bunny {they can draw it or take a picture of Easter decor}
- Marshmallow Peeps {everyone gets them, no one likes them}
- Plastic Easter Egg
- Something yellow
- Something green
- Something pink
- Something purple
- A sign of spring {tell them to think: blades of green grass and hopefully not one of your tulips}
- A dyed egg
- Candy wrapped in foil
There are tons of things you can add to this list if it is nice enough to let the kids outside for a bit. What would you add?

Ha! My family loves the peeps! Well, all except me — yuck! But I don’t like any marshmallows. They love their Easter baskets because this is the ONE TIME I will buy them each year.
But I love your idea; I could do the usual hunt for the littler ones, and a scavenger hunt for the bigger ones. Well… I love it, not sure about them. 😉
Have a great Easter!

Nobody likes Peeps? Says who? My kids always knew their chocolate was safe but to hide the Peeps from mom. That being said….generally one at Easter and one at Christmas satisfies my Peep craving but I still love ’em…………….:)

We love Peeps! Yum!
My husband just saw a pic on Facebook– a friend had made a Peeps wreath for Easter. He said, “That’s a waste of perfectly good Peeps!” LOL

I love chocolate covered peeps!! With regular chick peeps we have always punched holes in the cellophane with a fork and waited a week. They get crunchy and yummier but it only works with the chick ones not all the new other shapes. It’s been a family tradition forever.

Update: I modified your idea and everyone liked it. I made a list for an Easter Hunt. It wasn’t really a scavenger hunt, but more than eggs. They had to find the stuff that would normally just have appeared this morning: the candy filled eggs, books, pinwheels, peeps!, new outfits. Thanks for the great idea, Mavis! I think we have a new tradition (as long as I remember next year).

We love stale peeps. Preferably one year old, but a l 2 years old peep that shatters when you bite them is delightful. Also did you get the Cooks Hams at WINCO for .49 lb for shank ham, or $.69 lb for butt end Cooks ham.
Did you actually wait 3-4 hours for a Voodoo Donut or just take a picture?

We got there early in the morning so we didn’t have to wait long. 🙂
