Yesterday The Girl Who Thinks She’s a Bird stopped by the Tacoma Home and Garden Show to check out the Vintage Market and to listen to a talk my favorite local gardener Ciscoe Morris was giving.
The Girl and I had to stand in the back because all the chairs were taken. Ciscoe is one of the best speakers on the planet. He has so much enthusiasm for what he’s talking about you can’t help but have a smile on your face the whole time you are listening to him. And he likes to giveaway prizes too. 😉
This was the third year I attended the Tacoma Home and Garden show and as with years past, my favorite part were all the garden displays.
And the vintage market. 
Local antique dealers come from all around to sell their wares so if you love browsing through antique stores you would have totally loved this. I am always on the lookout of for vintage watering cans but nothing this year caught my eye so I went home empty handed {which is rare}.
I wanted to buy up all these seed packets but they were $2 each. It really wasn’t a bad price, but the whole kit and kaboodle would have been about $400. And I wanted the whole kit and kaboodle. 🙁
Snowshoes! I’ll need to add these to my list of things to buy when we move to Colonial Williamsburg.
Vintage Amish bonnet.
Now how cute is this? If you have an old rusted out Radio Flyer wagon sitting in your garage, you should totally make one of these adorable container gardens.
Now the HH would have called all of this stuff junk, but there is something about old stuff that is just cool.

I have never heard him speak in person but I love Cisco on his gardeing program and record evey episode. I just love his enthusiasm (Ooo la la) and the guy knows his stuff!

I love old stuff because I love history. I don’t watch much television, but one show my husband records for us to watch together is American Pickers. They travel around buying old stuff to sell in their stores. Sometimes they meet some interesting people with interesting stories.

I like that wagon idea. I’ve already planted all my bulbs, though. I can see replicating this idea with other plants and objects as well, like an old pail.

My husband is from Fredoina, NY and we only live a half an hour from there now. So cool that the seed box made it clear across the country!!!

Looks fun! And I hate to burst your bubble, but you might not need snowshoes in Colonial Williamsburg. Don’t get me wrong, they would make lovely decor, but practically, they wouldn’t be used very often. We lived near Williamsburg for a couple years and ONCE got a really big, deep snow, but that was not the norm. I think the annual snowfall in Willamsburg is pretty scant. Otherwise, it’s a really lovely place and I too have often waxed nostalgic about the simplicity of colonial life. Too much “Felicity, An American Girl” on my part lol.

The radio flyer is a great idea and it is junk… a good one. Its better to use it as a planter rather than another useless object in a landfill 🙂

I absolutely love the Seattle/Tacoma area…I cannot wait to get back there…but I am entirely jealous that you already have home and garden shows going on. I wish we had the growing season you do!!! Here in Nebraska we are getting 50 degree teasers one day….and -6 realities the next.

i’m like 20ish minutes from williamsburg and you definitely won’t need those snowshoes lol! today maybe, we are having a nice snowstorm right now, but normally we get an inch or less each time it snows 🙁
