I came up with 12 goals I’d like to accomplish this year with the hopes of being able to cross one off my list per month to make them more manageable. I thought a great way to hold myself accountable to the things I want to accomplish this year would be to do a weekly update.
After all, we all need a little help staying motivated sometimes. Here’s how I am doing so far:
1. Clean, de-clutter and organize my entire home in 30 days or less.
So far this year I have cleaned my closet, decluttered my bathroom, organized my office, gutted the garage, and tackled the laundry room. Last week I steam cleaned my carpets and this week I plan on touching up the trim and hardwood floors with my favorite wood stain pens. They are flippin genius!!
2. Fit into the same jeans I wore 8 years ago when we moved into our house. – For some strange reason I didn’t stuff my face with sweets. No cookies, pies or cakes to speak of and guess what? My pants are feeling a little loose. Oh, I didn’t do much walking either. Interesting.
3. Travel. – The Girl and I have decided to take a road trip over spring break. I despise driving like no other person on the planet so I’ll be sure and take plenty of craft projects along to work on in the passenger seat. 🙂
4. Send my daughter to college without having a nervous breakdown. – Don’t even get me started. The HH has been sick the last 2 nights so I’ve been bunking with The Girl Who Think’s She’s a Bird. And, she is in fact the coolest kid on the planet.
5. Get 3 new teeth. – I went to the oral surgeon last week for my checkup and he said everything looks good, but not good enough to get teeth yet.
6. Pay off my car. Done! 🙂 🙂 🙂
7. Finish the primitive folk art rug I started 4 years ago. – I got distracted {again} this past week} and started yet another rug hooking project. This time it’s one with pumpkins.
8. Family Day. Do one thing together as a family every Sunday. – We did something, but now I can’t remember what it was. LOL.
9. Secret Plan #1 – Working on it.
10. Secret Plan #2 – Still plotting.
11. Secret Plan #3
12. Convince the HH we should buy a Salt Box Style House in Colonial Williamsburg. I’ve decided I will need a screened in porch. Like this one or this one.
13. Spend at least 1 hour a day working in my garden. – It’s official, winter hibernation is now over and the planting can commence. Well, at least up here in Seattle anyway {sorry my east coast friends}. 😉
So there you have it, my goals for the new year.
How about YOU? How are your 2014 goals coming along?
~Mavis
P.S. YES, I know I wrote down 13 goals. I’m fairly certain I won’t be able to attain one of them. {gee, I wonder which one?} But I wanted to add it in there anyway because I believe in miracles.

Where do you get your primitive folk art rug kits? Thanks!

Mavis,
Oh, how I envy you that you get to stay home do all these fun things, while I toil away at work, someday when I retire!!! Also, I might not like you so much as we here in northern Wisconsin just got hit with 8 more inches of snow in the last 2 days that adds to the 2 feet that is still on the ground!!! Garden envy!!!LOL!!!:) Your blog is great and I would love to hug you!!

Maybe I should to move to someplace it snows … then it would be interesting to see what my garden chores were. I would LOVE to have 8 inches of snow. {Crazy, I know}.

Stain Pens….yes genius! I think I’ll run out and grab some of those. I’m thinking about steaming my carpets while my husband and 2 of my children are out of town next week. Did you do this yourself or hire it done? If you did it yourself I’d love to know how you did it.
You paid off your car!!!!! I just realized this is the car you picked up and drove around Europe not long ago. Way to go. You are a rock star! Feels good doesn’t it?

Yep, feels good. 🙂 I have one of those Bissell Carpet Cleaners and did it myself. Super easy!! 🙂 I would do it while they are away if you can. Crank the tunes and have fun.
