Holy cannoli’s people. The pollen is EVERYWHERE.
The greenhouse, on top of the cars, the front porch, I can’t even spend 10 minutes outside without getting it all over my black shirt. Sheesh. It’s a good thing I’m not allergic to the stuff or else I’d have to lock myself in the house for the rest of the summer. 
Luckily the pollen has not found it’s way into our greenhouse. Taking the time to have to rinse the sticky yellow stuff off our lettuce leaves does not appeal to me one bit.
And let’s talk about that lettuce shall we? 
To put it simply, I can’t keep up. The Butterfield lettuce factory is at full capacity and if I try and feed my husband another giant salad for dinner I think he’ll lose it completely. 
The rocket lettuce especially. Wowza! Have you ever tried rocket lettuce before? It’s crazy spicy. So spicy in fact that I’m letting the rest of it go to seed. 
Outside of the greenhouse the herbs are really beginning to take off. Check out my oregano plant, ain’t she pretty? I don’t know about you, but I love low maintenance herb plants. 
And the chives, just look at them. I started these chives from seed 2 years ago and now the whole bed is full of the perennial herbs. I love it!
Dear Spring, I love you and all the flowers and herbs you bring. But not the pollen. 🙁

I have tried growing lettuce a couple of times and it’s really, really bitter. Does your family just eat it anyway or am I doing something wrong?

Oh my gosh! THANK YOU for showing that picture of chives. We bought a house with a “mystery garden” and so far we have found rhubarb, strawberries, and chives! I thought that’s what they were but have never grown them and didn’t know what that bud was. Now I know!!! Woot!

We got two inches of snow last night in Michigan, I think my garden is going to be a swamp for a while yet, so jealous you are planting! All I can do is stare at my little seedlings under the grow lights in the basement!

Don’t forget that the chive flowers are edible “color” for a salad! Have two kinds of blue chives growing in my flower bed. One is from a clump given to me. The other is Fosgate [purchased many years ago from a small garden shop] and the blue color is a grey-blue, as is the green tubes if you do a side-by-side comparison.
This part of NY the snow went around us, but oh the wind and rain – found more root leaks! Looks like the another expensive summer project!

Maybe as Holmgren would say you don’t have a pollen robl you simply have too few bees. I would be whacking a couple of hives in with a supply like that!

I love your greenhouse. What kind is it? I have an aluminum framed greenhouse with plastic, but it was significantly damaged in a wind storm this fall. I’m on the look out for something that is more sturdy and survive Maine’s weather. 😉 Thanks in advance!

It is made by magnum greenhouses and I believe it was 12X14 in British green.

The place I bought it from is not longer in business. The greenhouse is a Magnum glass greenhouse in British racing green 12 x 14 try google.
