According to trip Adviser Sacajawea State Park is in Pasco and it is suppose to have a history center there since it was a stop for Lewis and Clark.
Mavis Butterfield says
Thanks Jenny!
Melissa says
It’s a beautiful park. You will need a discover pass
Heather says
No Discover Pass needed at Sacajawea or other Washington State parks on Saturday, April 19, “a spring Saturday,” one of 12 designated free days throughout the year. More about Sacajawea State Park: http://www.parks.wa.gov/575/Sacajawea

Oh wow that cart is amazing! A long trudge around the house with landscaping materials, that would make things much easier

Northwest Country Mercantile is a great store. They have lots of specialty foods, like sauces, dressings, jams, chutneys, homemade chocolates, fresh produce and sooooo much more. Also they have a good place to eat a meal. And top it off with an ice cream shake from the ice cream bar. They are a little outside of town on highway 395. Go to their website for directions. You won’t be sorry.
Mavis Butterfield says
Thanks Ramona!

We’re heading to Pasco this weekend as well… For the demolition derby that’s on Saturday night. (I’m not sure how I get talked into these “great ideas”). 🙂
Randi says
We go to Pasco every year for a three day swim meet. I recommend the taco trucks all over town. Authentic mexican tacos! Also, wine tasting at nearby wineries is always a ‘must do’.
Mavis Butterfield says
Thanks Randi, we will be on the lookout for taco trucks!! 🙂 Nom Nom

I’m partial to Pasco, myself, but I have lived here most of my life (w/ the exception of 4 yrs @ the U of W). I love the wide open spaces surrounding the Tri-Cities. There’s a great walking trail on the Pasco side of the river which is easily accessed at Chiawana Park (no Discover Pass needed). As far as Mexican food goes, if you’d rather sit inside, Kiko’s Tacos is our favorite (in fact we’re going there tonight!). It’s on Washington Street in Kennewick. Authentic, good food, great service and cheap. The tacos alambre are muy bueno. Middleton’s Country Store (1 mi. from Pasco on the Pasco-Kahlotus Highway) recently opened. Saw in the newspaper today that they’re currently selling local asparagus (so yummy roasted w/ olive oil, kosher salt & then finished w/ squeeze of lemon). Have a great visit here Mavis. It’s supposed to be windy Saturday. The one downside of living here.

Also, Viera’s Bakery in Pasco is awesome. The hugest most delicious donuts you’ve ever tasted. There’s also some great garden places in town (Heritage Nursery & Beaver Bark).

My pick would be the horse show at the Franklin County Saddle Club (west on Court Street then right on Rd 60, about a mile down on the right OR from I–182 take the Rd 68 exit and go south – away from TRAC and the businesses – left on Argent then right on Rd 60).
From the Tri-City Herald:
Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler River Cruises: Boarding from the dock at the Clover Island Inn. Cost: $30-$88, depending on cruise. Schedule and tickets: http://www.portlandspirit.com/

Hey Mavis! Exciting to hear you’ll be in my neck of the woods. Pasco….. well, if you’re into thrift shopping there’s a new Goodwill “outlet” in downtown pasco where everything is sold by the pound and the inventory changes every few hours. It’s kind of exciting to see what you’ll find. But can be grungy too so bring hand sanitizer. I second the Country Mercantile. And if you want to wander into Kennewick, you might like the Master Gardeners gardens outside the Union Library. Hope you find something great to do!
