My friend, MamaJJ recommended that I watch Queen of Versailles. It’s about a billionaire’s family–and their experience when the economic bubble popped. Fair warning: apparently it kind of makes you want to strangle these people, but it is jaw-dropping enough that you can’t stop watching.
Let me know what you think if you decide to watch it–or if you have already seen it. Did you love it? Hate it?
Peace out Girl Scouts & have yourself a great weekend,

This movie is CRAZY! The wealth and vulgarity regarding material goods that this woman displays is beyond understanding. It is a sad tale of excess and ultimately the downfall of the family but certainly entertaining. I have recommended this movie to my friends and family.

These people are awful, its not something I could watch and then have a peaceful nights sleep. I feel so sorry for the kids.

This movie is like a train wreck. You will get a peek at the super wealthy or should I say super wasteful? I’ll be interested to hear how you like it. I’m guessing you won’t but its like a car accident you can’t look away from.
Sara: I feel sorry for the kids too as well as their neglected pets. WARNING: at least 1 dies

I saw this over the winter. I was mesmerized and definitely did want to strangle those people. They were so shallow and had terrible taste, but were likable in some twisted way. Oh lord, the portraits looked like something out of Gone With the Wind. They reminded me of an older commercial about all money and no taste.

I won’t watch it, as I felt a little nauseous after watching the trailer. (I think my blood pressure went up, too!) I’m left wondering how much they are making in royalties for this movie?

I completely agree…. The wealth, and the vulgarity. I watched this when it was first aired. I can’t even imagine IF I had that much money, to build a house like that. I have actually been to the Palace of Versailles, when I was young, and making good money. I’m 58 now. I no longer have the lifestyle I used to have. Even if I did, again, there is no way, I would build, boast, and gloat, about that piece of Real Estate. I like to live simply, and I would do what I could, to help out those in need. I really am most happy growing my own garden, etc….eating my organic vegetables, although due to strokes, I haven’t been able to do this the past few years.

Sorry. Not. LOL. I feel the need to say that if someone has that much wealth, they are “obligated” to help out humanity. People going hungry, children dying from lack of clean water….. I really don’t get “how” they can sleep at night. With a clean conscious. In my life, I have been by today’s standards “rich”, and I have been “poor”. Yes, having money to buy anything I wanted, was a new experience. The bills looked like Monopoly money to me. I still didn’t forget my “roots”. I helped out my struggling friends, I bought, and surprised, many relatives and friends, with night out treats ($200) bill….as well as buying their children hundreds of dollars worth of clothes for back to school…. I still find it sickening that this “Queen”, and her “King”, would use their wealth like this….
