In my love of all things BBC, I stumbled on a series called Lark Rise to Candleford. It’s set in a small hamlet called Lark Rise during the end of the 19th century. According to the BBC website, it is a drama based on the memoir of Flora Thompson’s childhood–though, with a little love, intrigue and drama mixed in. Yes, please. I can’t wait to start it.
Have you seen this ? Did you like it? If not, let me know what you think if you decide to watch it.
Peace out Girl Scouts & have yourself a great weekend,

Haven’t seen the series, but the trilogy by Flora Thompson is such a wonderful read. A true, if semi-fictionalised, recollection of village life in Oxfordshire before the turn of the last century, she wrote the three books during the outbreak of WWII after having sent parts of them in essay form to Oxford University Press. She has an eye for nature and naturalistic detail, so I would suspect the BBC series to be full of rich scenes of nature and farm life.

Loved the series and I’m sure you will too! Here’s a bit of trivia for you. They ended the series because Brendan Coyle was offered a part on another BBC series and he didn’t want to do two series at once. The name of the new series? Downton Abbey.

This series runs on PBS (channel 28 more than channel 9, for you Seattleites). I usually see it on the schedule in the mornings. it is a sweet little show, and as usual, the costumes are wonderful.

Sure, get me hooked on another great series! As long as it doesn’t end after 15 episodes like Land Girls did!!! I watch on my I-pad while I’m baking, working in the kitchen or quilting! You need to keep coming up with more! Have seen all of Downton Abbey, Call the Midwife, inspector Lewis, Inspector Morse, Endeavour, land Girls, Rosmary and Thyme, Mr. Self ridge and are in the middle of Sherlock! Seems like all the really good shows are coming out of the UK!
Any more suggestions?

Yep, definitely worth it!
Only find it sporadically on PBS, and will likely bug the library to find me the DVD. 🙂
