I haven’t been online too much these past few days because I needed to take a few days off to re-charge my batteries and hang out with my favorites peeps. It was nice to unplug for a wee bit but oddly enough I couldn’t set my camera down. Ha! You’d think it was my third arm they way I carry that thing around everywhere I go.
Over my mini Christmas break I finally got around to painting the trim and baseboards in the hallway.
And also painted The Girl Who Thinks She’s a Bird’s bathroom {changing it from powder blue to white}.Β
The laurel hedge was trimmed and two truckloads of pine needles were hauled away.
The Girl and I went to her friend, the Mathematicians annual Hanukkah Party and played the best game everΒ and had a great time stuffing our faces with potato pancakes and applesauce.
And admired her mother’s new pastime… Making blue pottery {with snakes}.
We made a boatload of sugar cookies…
And hosted our annual cookie party and luncheon {this same group of kids has been decorating cookies together since the 6th grade}. It was fun to listen to them talk about college life, living in the dorms, and potential summer jobs.
The Girl Who Thinks She’s a Bird knitted gifts for everyone on her list.
And we spent Christmas Eve at my parents place with family.
We played an intense game of 31, and lost… to my 24 year old niece. She went home this year with $150 in $5 gifts cards to various stores around town.
I baked a delicious apple pie.
And then set off the smoke dector on Christmas morning because I didn’t realize the juices from the pie had bubbled over. It was pretty RAD. We had to eat our cinnamon rolls at lunch time instead of before we opened our presents.
We watched Lucy the Puggle Dog open her gifts…
And then play with them all afternoon.
And then around dinner time the HH remembered he bought me a Christmas gift {he hid it in the garage and totally forgot about it} and showed me how to use it. π
All in all it was a nice relaxing holiday. We took plenty of naps, watched a bunch of movies and stuffed out faces with good food. I don’t think it gets any better than that.
How about YOU? How was your holiday? Anything memorable happen?

Happy Day After Christmas, Mavis!
My big deal was my 42 year old son (who doesn’t live close enough for me) actually liked the gift I sent him….I have the text message to prove it!
Life is good!
P.S.
Thanks for the Lucy photos…I love her little face!

Santa brought us that game. The youngest is finally old enough to play. Mm we had potato pancakes yesterday with our sauerbraten. YUMMY!

I love the knitted gifts! How do I get on her Christmas list? π
We played Apples to Apples as well on Christmas night. My son & daughter-in-law drove home to get it (only 5 miles) after our yummy meal.

Those hats look like crochet to me (I crochet, but have only knitted a tiny bit). I am, in fact, crocheting my second little girl hat. I don’t know what to do with it. I don’t have girls, and I live in Southern California. But hey, it’s fun and fast.

Wow, Mavis, you played 31! My family calls it skat. The only game I know of that you can play three handed. Wondering how you played with gift cards since folding the corners of the money keeps track of rounds lost?

Everyone brings 3 $5 gift cards. π

How cute that Lucy liked her toys! Our animals have only played with toys for a little bit, then drop them for empty water bottles and other “garbage.” One thing – The Girl’s gifts looks beautiful, but they are crocheted, not knitted. I’m not usually a “knit-picker”, (sorry), but I’m quite the crocheter who’s also learning to knit now. They’re both art forms.
Mavis Butterfield says
Ahh yes, you are right, they were crocheted.

As a diehard 12, I totally noticed the awesome Seahawks blue pottery! π

Oh wow! I am in LOVE with that pottery. Is she selling any of it or is it just for her? It’s crazy beautiful.
