While I was away the fence guys came and installed our new picket fence. A new picket fence! What a great welcome home gift! Don’t you just love the flower gate pull? I think it’s perfect for a garden that will be bursting with flowers {and vegetables!!}.
I was planning on lounging around yesterday but I was still on go mode and so we decided to break out the paint sprayer and start staining the fence.
Okay, so maybe I was the one who suggested it. Ha! A new fence! Let’s get busy man. We’ve only got a few more weeks until the weather starts to turn, right? Let’s get that baby stained and what plants we can, in the ground pronto.
The HH was able to get the base layer of stain on both sides of the fence yesterday. Using a paint sprayer wastes SO MUCH stain, it’s crazy.
Today we will begin the long tedious task of going over the fence with a second coat of stain {with paint brushes} to make sure we get in all the nooks and crannies. With the type of fence we had installed, it’s hard to reach all those tight spots with a sprayer.
But that fence, I sure do love it. I can’t wait to start planning next year’s flower and vegetable layout! I have a feeling there will be a lot of vertical gardening going on in our teeny tiny backyard.
A new picket fence. Yee-haw. Here we go!

I find it so odd how many houses on the East Coast don’t have a fence! I have always lived on the West Coast and have always lived in houses with fences. Why are there so few fences? How do people know where their property ends? How do dogs stay within yards? I don’t get it. I love fences and my privacy.

Love the fence! You are saying stain…. But you are painting it white, right? Or, is it some sort of white stain?

We use BEHR’s Solid Color House & Fence Wood Stain. Tintable base #11. You can buy it off the shelf at Home Depot. This is the third fence we have used it on. 🙂
