A Visit to the Pottery Studio

I keep forgetting to tell you about the cool pottery studio I visited with my friend El Presidente and the Christmas gift I gave myself that was two years in the making.

Okay, so here we go.

2 years ago I hosted a committee Christmas party at my house and one of the people showed up with a ridiculously cool nut dish. And I wanted it.

Real bad.

But thing was she had made the dish herself. It was a one of a kind. And when I asked her if she would be making more {because I wanted to buy one!!} the lady was very undecided. She had just begun taking pottery classes and wasn’t sure if she would be making more.

Which as an occasional artist myself, I totally understood. But, that didn’t change the fact that I wanted her nut dish. In fact I wanted the stinkin’ nut dish so bad that every time the I even so looked at a bag of nuts I had flashbacks to the committee meeting party and that dish. 2 YEARS people. I’ve had an image of a nut dish in my head for 2 flippin’ years.

So when my friend El Presidente casually mentioned a few days before Christmas that she was going to the potter’s house to look at some cups and bowls she had made, I immediately asked her if the lady had any nut dishes for sale.

She said she didn’t know but that I was welcome to come along.

And there it was. My very own nut dish.  After 2 years I finally got one. I paid $22 and let me tell you Bob it was worth every penny. Don’t you think the colors are amazing?

After all was said and done I went home with a handmade nut dish, a mug for The Girl Who Thinks She’s a Bird {she collects mugs} and a soap dish for the bathroom.

I had to wait 2 years, but it was totally worth the wait.
