It was another action packed day. We left Port Isaac and headed east to the Costswolds and surprisingly, made it there in 4 hours {like we were supposed to}.
We toured Blenheim Palace, had afternoon tea at The Orangery, checked out the Harry Potter Tree and loaded up on more biscuits and sweets.
We also drove to St Martin’s, Bladon and laid {hot pink} flowers on the grave of Sir Winton Churchill and Lady Churchill.
We also checked into our new cottage.
It was a busy day. And after a light dinner of toast and tea, now all I want to do is sleep. Tomorrow we have plans to visit Stow-on-the-Wold, Snowshill, Chipping Norton and who knows where else we’ll find to explore.
The Cotswolds… it’s lovely here. Lot’s of sheep, tiny villages, narrow roads and it will be a miracle if we’re able to bring the rental car back unscathed.
Driving in England… It’s not for the faint at heart, that’s for sure.
I hope you’re having a good time wherever you are.

A book to read on the flight home – Diane Winger -The Long Path Home – about a walking vacation in Cornwall.

I think the reason the roads are so twisted is the rain , as people once served to avoid puddles or pools of water .
On really bad country lanes you can always gently hoot to make a unseen driver aware of your coming .
Sounds as if you’re making the most of your much deserved holiday.

Mavis, if you have the opportunity, visit our wonderful city, Wells. There’s a food festival in Wells on Sunday, the 9th, on the Cathedral Green, at the Bishop’s Palace and the Market Square. We’re about 8 miles from Glastonbury. Enjoy your visit to our adopted home! We are retired American teachers who have lived in the U.K. for 40 years.

I’m curious what inspired a visit with flowers to Churchill’s grave. Any special connection?
