Sweet Diggety Dog! I’m sure you know by now how much I LOVE Amazon.com. They sell practically everything, plus when my package arrives I get to see my hottie of a UPS man Gustav. It’s a total win-win situation.
Well I nearly fell off my chair last night when I found out that now through December 18th, when you buy $100 in Amazon Gift Cards at Albertsons you get a $10 Albertsons store coupon. $10 worth of free groceries? Oh Heck ya I picked up a few.
*Another thing to remember, if your store participates in the Albertsons Preferred Program, you receive points when you purchase gifts cards. Because my store participates, I also scored a $5 off my next order Albertsons store coupon. Yay!
You are only able to use 1 $10 off coupon per day, per transaction, and the coupons expire within 7 days of issue, so keep that in mind if you are going to do this deal. Also, you cannot use these coupons for LIQUID DAIRY products.
Here is what I picked up with my 1st $10 Albertsons store coupon-
1 Cherry Jello $1.00 {upcoming recipe}
1 Cherry Pie Filling $3.99 {upcoming recipe}
1 Pound Tillamook Butter $2.69
5 Pounds Satsumas $3.00
1 Cherry 7- Up $1.50
Used $10.00 Albertsons Store Coupon
Used FREE Soda Coupon *
Used $1.50 Fresh Produce Coupon *
Final Price: $0.56
* Albertsons is spitting out free product and $ off coupons at the Catalina machines like crazy, so be on the look out for them.
Do you have an Albertsons in your area? Will you be taking advantage of this offer?

This post kind of reminds me of the saying “It takes money to make money.”
Unfortunately, I would imagine that the vast majority of people who are looking for ways to feed their families on $100/month do not have an extra $400 lying around to buy Amazon gift cards in order to score $40 of free groceries.
I love your blog & I find your humor & attitude delightful and entertaining & I’ve learned a lot about the couponing/grocery “game” here, but I also feel this needed to be said.
Or maybe I’m just being a poop. In which case, ignore me. 😉

Michelle,
I agree with you – just like all of the Lowe’s cards… I wish I could do it, but can’t, but heck – I don’t even have an Albertsons in my state so it wouldn’t work for me anyway. Or even the free produce – I’ve asked my stores, can’t get it for anything. But everything that works for Mavis, isn’t going to work for everyone. She is doing what works for her and in turn, giving ideas to other people. Take what works, leave the rest, and laugh a lot in the process. And remember, although Mavis is doing these extra things to help her budget, she also does extra things that a family who could only afford $100 a month probably wouldn’t be doing with their groceries (making 25 days of cookies, feeding the track team kids, etc.). They would only be getting necessities. Mavis is getting creative to make her $100 a month budget work and helping people by showing many different ways to add to your grocery budget. This is just another one of those ways.

Thank you Heather. 🙂

Yes, yes, & yes. 🙂 I’m in kind of a blah mood this morning, please pardon my poopiness (and I may just grab one of those Amazon cards myself, don’t you know– Albertsons is supposed to have doublers this Sunday!).

Well said, Miss Heather.
You know what I’ve been taking advantage of lately is the free $25 gift card with any new or transferred prescription. We have some maintenance medications….so I moved those over to Albies from Wags and got $25 each on those. And then when I get 2 more refills on them, I get another $25. I was going to pay the prescription $ to Wags anyway, so why not do it at Albies and get free money? Promo runs through March….doublecheck with your Albies pharmacy though first. I’m at $125 in free money right now.

Awesome thanks…Love it when Albertson’s runs this promo. A couple months ago they had Kohl’s on the list of gift cards and were offering $20 worth of free groceries for every $100 worth of giftcards. I picked up a couple hundred dollars worth and everyone on my Xmas list is getting something from Kohls 🙂 Also I made sure to use my giftcards when Kohl’s was offering $10 Kohl’s cash for every $50 spent so it worked out to be a pretty great deal!

I love Amazon such great deals! I usually stock up on coffee when the price is right. I also had enough swagbuck points for a free dehydtor, top end jerky gun and silpats this last year. I woudn’t have dreamed of doing a transaction like this a year or two ago. Lack of funds and imagination. I believe I owe you a big THANK YOU for helping me think outside the box.

Do you know if Nordstrom Gift Cards were included in the promotion?

I tried to convince my husband & he said “NOWAY! YA NUTTER!” 🙁 I tried to reason with him that we buy our toilet paper on Amazon anyway — we might as well kick in the $100 to get $10 in free groceries since we’ll spend (probably more than) $100 on Amazon in the next year for toilet paper anyway…
“$100…. for $10 in free groceries? Are you hearing yourself!?”
I’m not the poop in this case. It’s the Mister >_O

It’s amazing to me, now that I “get” it, how some people (i.e., husbands) don’t. That’s a 10% savings by doing nothing. Good thing I’m in charge of buying groceries, etc. & don’t have to run it by anyone for approval. Not judging, just sayin’. Makes it much simpler!

Ohmygoodness this is wonderful news! I need to go buy them this week…wonder if I can use them to pay for my prime renewal? 🙂
Mavis says
Well, it’s like Amazon cash… Hmm. I wonder? Maybe.

I was wondering if Kroger is doing the same promotions? I think Kroger and Albertson’s are affiliates, but Kroger is not as liberal with things like this. Love you, Mavis.
Lissa says
Susan – sadly, Kroger and Albies are not affiliates. Kroger is an affiliate of Fred Meyer and QFC so often those two stores have similar sales. Alberstsons is a Save-A-Lot affiliate store
Michele says
We spend a ton of money at Amazon but I’m not sure that $10 is enough incentive given the $20 promo they had just a couple of weeks ago!
Also because Albertson’s is across town and they don’t carry as much of the organic/natural stuff that we like. And I’d have to drag in my 6yo homeschooled son. 🙂
