I knew this day would come eventually. In five days, the annual fee for Amazon Prime is going up from $79 to $99 a year. If you’ve been thinking about signing up, now’s the perfect time to start your free 30-day trial and lock in the $79 price for a year. Now I might not love the $20 price increase, but even at $99, I think Amazon Prime is totally worth it! Here’s why I think it’s the bee’s knees:
I am in love with Amazon Prime for 3 very specific reasons:
- FREE 2 -Day Shipping! {Sometimes my stuff even arrives the next day}
- I can order an item and have it shipped to my Mother {or anyone, anywhere else} for FREE!
- Tons and Tons of FREE movies and FREE eBooks!
The benefits far outweigh the $99 annual fee hands down.

What is an Amazon Prime Membership?
Amazon Prime is a membership program that gives you and your family unlimited fast shipping, such as FREE Two-Day shipping to street addresses in the contiguous U.S., on all eligible purchases for an annual membership fee of $79.
Amazon Prime members in the U.S. can enjoy unlimited streaming of videos: commercial-free, instant streaming of thousands of movies and TV shows through Amazon Instant Video at no additional cost.
Plus, Amazon Prime Members who own Kindle devices can also choose from thousands of books — including more than 100 current and former New York Times Bestsellers — to borrow and read for free, as frequently as a book a month with no due dates, from the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library.

Not only that but you can share you shipping benefit with family members. I have been Prime since it first came out. I have saved hundreds, no probably thousands of dollars on shipping. The trick is to buy everything that Amazon has a better price on through them. I not only save money, free shipping but it saves me time which is a resource I have little of. I never like a price increase on anything, but this is the first increase in 9 years…I can live with that.

Me too. Especially around the holidays. I loath standing in line at the post office to mail stuff and with prime, they ship it for free. Can’t beat that.

Mavis, my email and the website says this is effective next year, 2015. ” On March 03, 2015, you will be charged $99 for another year of Prime.”

Mavis,
I signed up for the free trial in October 2013 and they automatically billed my credit card for the year membership. I did not want to subscribe to it and did not even realize it until I received a promotion for the movies. I would like to discontinue the membership, as I only used it for 2 purchases in October. I don’t hardly order anything online. I tried to find an address where I could discontinue the membership, but I have not received any word from the address I sent my request to. Any suggestions??? Help????

After you log in, at the top right of the page it should say “Hello, Liz, your account.” next to that, it will say “Manage Prime.”. Click on that and cancel.
