My friend Jen has totally turned me onto bento box style lunches. They seriously make “taking cold lunch” so much more fun. If you are looking for ways to spice up your kids’ lunch fare, try bento style. I should warn you, it becomes a little addictive–it’s like food art.
Ingredients
Nutella
Bread
Peanut Butter
Banana Chips
Jicama Slices
Cheese
Directions
Start by making your basic nutella and peanut butter sandwich. Dinosaur sandwich cutters are pretty awesome, and it automatically cuts off the crusts, which makes you a hero in most kid’s eyes.
Then, cut out some cheese shapes using cookie cutters {the sky is the limit with the shapes you can create}. Placing cheese in a silicone baking cup which are surprisingly cheap is fun, and can be reused throughout the school year.
Cut the jicama slices using a crinkle cutter. Since the jicama needed to be cut them anyway, using a crinkle cutter didn’t take anymore time. Put the jicama in one compartment of your container and the banana chips in the other {these containers were used for this bento box}. Then, lastly put the sandwich in the large compartment and wedged the cheese along side the sandwich. Boom! Lunch magic.
