bits and bobs: A random assortment of things; small remaining pieces and things
I walked around the garden this morning and noticed half of the bush beans were gobbled up overnight!!! I bet it was the chippys. 🙁 I sprinkled cayenne pepper on the rest of the plants, hopefully that will stop them from eating them.
My new favorite listing in Port Issac. The heart cutouts in the kitchen cupboards made me smile. And that farmhouse sink!
After waiting 2 years to watch Downton Abbey the movie, it was a bit of a disappointment. Too much makeup, the speech of most of the characters was rushed, and there were a few scenes that were totally unnecessary.
I’m glad Tom Branson found a new girl though, so there was that. And Molesley’s big scene. That was embarrassingly spot on.
Tipperary Irish butter cookies. You need these in your life. They’re buttery and soft {but not too soft} and remind me of the old fashioned butter cookies you used to be able to find in specialty shops around the holidays before they started mass producing them and selling the dried out versions in big box/warehouse stores.
Dried pumpkin stems. Now here’s something I need to get in on. Right now you can find 20 dried authentic pumpkin stems for $49.95 shipped on Etsy. It just goes to show you, there’s something for everyone on the internet. 🙂
Have a fantastic day,
~Mavis

This may be a weird place to say this, but you should check out this guy on YouTube his name his Mike and his channel is called That Chapter. He is Irish and he does videos about crimes, but it usually isn’t super gorey (sp?), he is super adorable and has the best sayings (bits and bobs, kick the tires, give it a go). Every time you have an article that says bits and bobs it makes me think of his show and every time he says it, it makes me think of your website.

Why would anyone want a dried pumpkin stem(s)?
MEM says
I can answer that! Crafters on Etsy and other places use the real stem when making stuffed fabric (often velvet) pumpkins. Looks much better than a faux stem.

I have a friend whom used to come glean pumpkin stems from our fields after the pumpkins were harvested. She started making velvet pumpkins many years ago and was featured as one of Oprah’s favorite things on her holiday show and her business went crazy. Pretty cool.

And on hooked pumpkins, too!
Nancy Settel says
people who make cloth pumpkins they put the real stems on them.

My question, too.

Never had chippy get the beans but the deer can destroy a soybean field in a few nights and they definitely took care of our green beans. They left droppings and footprints behind!
Debi says
The deer ate all my Brussel sprout plants. Did not touch anything else.
Sam says
That is so weird about the pumpkin stems! Now I want to start saving ours!

Toilet paper rolls are all over ebay. Kindergarten crafts.
Regina says
What is a chippy?
Shari says
Chipmunk

Before my husband built fence panels to protect our garden the deer would come through about once a week to eat all the leaves off the bush beans. They would wait long enough for the leaves to regrow before coming through again. If your pepper doesn’t cut it, you may need a taller fence.
