bits and bobs: A random assortment of things; small remaining pieces and things
Found on a bathroom wall.
In case you didn’t know… These are bananas.
Let’s go already!
Function over fashion. A sign he’s getting old.
Remember when a pack of M&M’s were a quarter?
The stuff of nightmares?
That’s it. That’s all I’ve got for today.
Peace Out,

How is your garden doing, Mavis?
Mavis Butterfield says
Just about everything in the “religious size” garden is a bust. Everything in the kitchen garden is doing quite well. Removing the garden fabric looks like it helped dry out the soil a bit, but other than maybe some tomatoes and some jalapeños it doesn’t look like anything is going to make it. The tomatoes that we planted in the raised containers though are thriving. One of those years I suppose. It happens. 🙂

Every single time this post pops up I read it ‘Bits and Boobs’. What is wrong with me?
Donna says
I always read it as Bits and Blobs….

I’m older…I remember when a candy bar was 5 cents! It kills me to see what is charged for candy these days!
Susan says
Same! .05 !
And a whole display of penny candy….that was actually a penny!!! 🙂

Yes! In the late 1960s, my Mom would let my brother and I pick out an empty glass pop bottle to return to the little corner store. They were worth a 10 or 15 cents refund. There was a special penny glass candy cabinet where you could point and the owner would fill a little paper sack with your selections. Wax lips, root beer barrels, Sixlets, and more to last a couple days. Great memories!

Regular candy bars should be no more than .99 cents.I refuse to pay those ridiculous prices!Have you noticed they don’t taste as good either!

I remember when CVS gave us deals on candy enough that we could adequately keep chocolate in our cabinets without going broke.

The cigarett butt next to the doll adds to the horror story.

My father worked for a vending company. We had a truck out front filled with candy bars for most of my youth and I never really knew how much a package of M & M’s cost, because I just got them from him when I wanted some.
Now I am happy when I can find them for $1 a package

You mentioned you were getting your garden soil tested, what did it reveal? Just wondering if the salt from the seaweed on the lasagna part of the garden was too high?
Inquiring minds want to know 🙂
You are living my dream in Maine, don’t get discouraged– heavy rain anywhere in the country will do a garden in for the season.

I can remember my mom giving us each a quarter (so 50 cents between me and my brother), and us walking out with a small bag full of candy. Usually we would only get a nickel to spend, but the quarter was a special occasion (4th of July or other get together), and we had to share with our cousins and any other kids there.

I read Bits and Blobs (LOL). The bathroom message is so timely – after hanging up my elected volunteer state officer job for a national women’s non-profit (my term ended – hooray), this speaks to my heart. Back to being a Professional Keeper of the Home!

We buy the movie theater size boxes of M&M’s and other candies at the grocery store, Kroger, for $1.25 each. Walmart has the regular size single serve bag that weighs less than half of the box for $1.32 each.
