Sometimes I just have to let out a little giggle when I shop in stores. Like the other day when I was waiting for some large patterns to be printed up at The Office Depot and decided to take a walk down the isles. Seriously? There are people out there who pay $32.99 for 6 rolls of packing tape? What am I missing here? Other than maybe the price was more appropriate for an office supply store at the airport or something.
Even the price for a box of 45 envelopes on sale for $5.00 {that are normally priced at $9.99} was pretty out there. Silly me, I thought everyone bought their envelopes at the Dollar Store. Clearly, I was wrong.
Speaking of overpriced items…
I dropped something off at the thrift store last week and noticed they wanted $10.00 for a cracked 8″ terra-cotta planter. Really? How much would you pay? I mean, I know we’ve talked about this before, but C’MON NOW…. Am I wrong in thinking $10 is just NUTS? Even if Martha Stewart signed it herself, I don’t think someone would pay $10 for a cracked pot.
Monkey Boy has discovered Wonder Bread. And he loves it.
Question: You find a nice pair of {running?} gloves on the ground while you’re out walking your dog. Do you pick them up… because Hey, free gloves? Or leave them on the ground because maybe someone threw them on the ground on purpose and will be circling back for them?
Curious minds want to know.
- How much would you pay for a 6 pack of packing tape?
- Envelopes?
- A second hand terra-cotta pot?
- Have you ever tried Wonder Bread?
- The gloves. Do you pick them up, or leave them on the ground?

I’d leave the gloves but check again a day or two later. If a runner ditched them deliberately and was going to circle back, they’d be picked up by the time I got back to them. If it turned out they’re going to rot in the rain all winter, then they’re mine.
And… brand new terra cotta pots are cheaper than that at Home Depot!

I’d leave the gloves. Someone might come back for them. I used to eat Wonder Bread as a kid. Love it. Found better bread now and won’t eat it. I do buy fancy envelopes when I’m mailing a lot of stuff. Hate licking them.

1) Tape – $12 tops for a 6 pack ; 2) $2 tops for a box of 50 ; 3) 25 cents for an 8 inch or larger; 4) yes, as a child. yuck now ; 5) Leave them today and check tomorrow. If they’re still there, they’re yours!

My husband leaves behind running gloves if while running, his tummy gets upset, and he has to dart into the woods…and use the gloves as toilet paper. So….leave the gloves! Ew!

I’ll never look at gloves on the ground the same way! Funny, and icky!!!

Tape: $6 for 6 rolls (dollar store). Envelopes: $1 for a box (dollar store). Terra-cotta pot: $0. I wouldn’t buy a cracked pot. WonderBread: I might have had it as a kid? But I’m not sure. And the gloves… I think I would just leave them… but not because I’m “being nice” and thinking someone might come back for them… It’s because I wouldn’t want the germs. ha!
Aunt G says
Tape–wouldn’t buy a 6 pack
Envelopes–$1
Pot–they’re crazy
Bread–nope never
Gloves–I would pick them up

We ate Wonder bread all the time as kids. Nice and soft. It was a real treat when we could rip the crusts off, sprinkle cinnamon sugar all over it, and then scrunch it all up into a big ball and pinch off little bites. Good times! 🙂
I couldn’t even fathom doing something like that today!

Tape- about $12 if they are large rolls. Envelopes-$2. The pot $0, it’s cracked. If not cracked maybe $1 or less. My grandparents used to buy Wonder bread so when I was a kid we ate it every Saturday when we visited. I liked it ok as a kid but have never bought it myself. Too soft, squishy, and fake foodish. The gloves, I would say would be a judgement call based on the exact location. I can’t really see how someone would leave them and expect to return and retrieve them. And I think it would be obvious it they were used as TP (referring to a previous comment to that effect).

How much would you pay for a 6 pack of packing tape? I buy tape at the dollar store.
Envelopes? Ditto for envelopes.
A second hand terra-cotta pot? $1? But not cracked.
Have you ever tried Wonder Bread? Yes. Nice and smooshy. Good for Lebanon bologna and cheese or fluffernutter sandwiches!
The gloves. Do you pick them up, or leave them on the ground? I’d leave them but circle back later to see if they are still there.

Because I make stupid puns ALL THE TIME: Only a crack pot would buy a cracked pot!! :-). hahahahahahaha

There’s a woman in our neighborhood who runs every day and sheds stuff as she runs — hat, gloves, vest. She usually picks it all up on her way back through. Occasionally, she forgets something, but she always collects it by the next day. So I would definitely leave the gloves, though I’d keep an eye on them and if no one claimed them after a couple of days, I’d take them home and wash them. I wouldn’t buy the cracked pot and I think Wonder Bread is gross.

I found my most favorite knit hat on the ground a few years ago. I let it sit there for 5 days and figured that was long enough for the owner or anyone else who wanted it. I wear it almost everyday in winter walking my dog. I love it so much I looked it up on amazon so I can have a spare!

Wonder bread with skippy peanut butter folded over is how I ate snacks with my mom and it is a treasured memory now that she is gone .
Tape I buy at our Post Office ( live in Canada ) for just over $2.00 a roll it’s the best tape I have found and I used to sell a ton of stuff on eBay and it worked great .
Thrift stores are going crazy with there prices you really have to now your prices .
I found a 80.00 Calvin Klein wool infinity scarf for $1.49 at Vslue Village big time score and will be giving it to my daughter for Christmas.
Envelopes I buy at Walmart , they are the peel type for under 4.00 for 48 .

Tape — no more than $15, cracked pot .25 cents if I really needed it, gloves are tempting if they fit and depending on where you found them (can’t really see someone ditching their gloves but who knows). Wonder bread – used to eat it as a kid, fun to squish into a ball and eat.

Guess I am a bread snob of sorts. Wonder Bread isn’t ‘bread’. It can be rolled up into a dough ball. Ugh! I love homemade bread slathered with butter fresh from the oven that day. Doesn’t take but a few minutes and few ingredients to mix up and get rising in the morning. It will fill your home with heavenly bakery aroma as it bakes.Challah is my favorite with the crispy crusty french bread, honey whole wheat and swedish rye following closely behind.

No freakin’ way, Jose! Tape, envelopes? Stuff that’s almost like being thrown away anyway? The cheapest I can pay for the quality I need for the job! And a cracked pot? I wouldn’t pay $10 for one that wasn’t cracked! Especially, when it’s easy enough to cruise a few yard sales in the summer and pick them up for way less and sometimes even for free! Totally blows my mind. No wonder people are always grumbling about being poor and having no money!! As for Wonder bread, I guess it’s fine if you like that sort of thing, but I have to be in a major jam to even buy white bread. Definitely not my thing! I prefer good, hearty, healthy grain or seed bread. I’d be inclined to pick up the gloves, after scoping out the area to see if there was anyone near by who might have dropped them. Depending on where it was, might even leave a note indicating they’d been found and where they could be retrieved. If no response, I’d wash them and keep them if I could wear them, or give them to someone who could.. Isn’t life interesting!

Great post the comments have made me laugh. Tape I buy from Lidl a replica store more or less to Aldi that we have in the uk I think it’s £1 a roll, envelopes, I ask my boss if I may take a dozen home, we pay one penny an envelope at the office for bog standard self stick. The bread, we don’t have that brand here but in our house we call that type of bread plastic bread. When my son was small he loved it. I make my own. The gloves, leave them for a few days, as everyone says if they’ve been dropped they will circle back but definitely wash them as the thought of someone using them as TP seemed quite feasible! Omg the pot who on earth would buy a cracked pot let alone pay $10? when my mum died she had a pot garden and I struggled to get £1 for huge perfect glazed very expensive pots. People have too much money or no sense!

Tape-it’s the brand I use but I buy it at Dollar Tree because a roll lasts a long time.
Envelopes-I do buy better quality envelopes than what can be bought at Dollar Tree. I’m self-employed and think it looks more professional.
Bread-nope
Gloves-too much of a coincidence that both are there. I don’t think I’d take them, even if still there in a couple days.
Cracked pot-nope

Don’t eat white bread anymore unless I make it (Dave’s Killer is great). Get tape at either Dollar General or Dollar store, same for envelopes which is seldom use as I do most stuff online. Just no to the cracked pot. Gloves, leave for another day and if they’re still there then claim.

How much would you pay for a 6 pack of packing tape? – Maybe $10 or 12? I haven’t priced it in awhile
Envelopes? – pretty much nothing, I live near a stationary company & can get rejects for almost free but this is definitely a $ store item
A second hand terra-cotta pot? 8 inch cracked? If I needed it maybe $2, if I didn’t maybe .50. Ridiculous!
Have you ever tried Wonder Bread? yes, Yum
The gloves. Do you pick them up, or leave them on the ground? – Pick them up if they aren’t in someone’s yard. I live on a lake & people lose things out of the back of their boat/pick up all the time! (A huge pet peeve because of the litter this causes…if you drive a truck DON”T use the bed as a trash can!) I’ve found just laying on the side of the road….two very nice fleece throws that just needed a good wash, a nice glass mug intact, lots of hats & a life vest……I also pick up all the bailing twine I find. I live surrounded by small farms & cattle ranches. When they haul hay or even just move a bail down the road, they often lose twine. I roll it up & add it to my twine stash. It’s strong & actually looks great for crafts & gift wrapping rustic gifts. And it’s free!

Yes to the gloves. While driving home last week we went “ditch shopping” and pulled over for a sled (the children have been having a blast on their new sled!) A little bit down the road I saw one work glove, remarked how nice it would if the owner lost the other one as well, saw the second glove a few metres down the road and immediately pulled over. Gloves can be gross but you just have to throw them in the wash!

How much would you pay for a 6 pack of packing tape? $6 max
Envelopes? I get mine at the Dollar Store too.
A second hand terra-cotta pot? I would pass on the pot unless I NEEDED a crack pot for some strange reason, snort.
Have you ever tried Wonder Bread? My mom always bought us wheat bread growing up and I never buy bread nowadays.
The gloves. Do you pick them up, or leave them on the ground? If the glove fits, you must apick! 😉

1. $1.00/roll so $6.00 2. Local dollar store has 50 ct. boxes 2/$1.00. If you want the peel & stick kind – they’re $1.00 for 50. 3. I wouldn’t buy a used pot at any price. 4. Wonder Bread was awesome until the first time I baked my own and that’s where the love affair ended. 5. I’m still laughing at the idea that they make gloves for running. Why? Will I not be able to run if I wear driving gloves instead? How about mittens? Is wearing mittens while running a fashion faux pas? Will other runners (wearing running gloves) laugh and point? And there I am in my mittens unable to point back……oh, the drama!
Sorry – the “running gloves” reminded me of an old friend who told me she couldn’t do yoga because she looked really bad in yoga pants. I’d leave them. Partly because someone may be looking for them but mostly because my mittens would be jealous if I picked up a couple of gloves and brought them home with me. (Okay, I think I’m done now).

PLEASE LEAVE THE GLOVES! They’re not yours. Someone (like me) will come back looking for them. I have done this before and have been so grateful that they were still there.
Come on – you can be frugal but don’t be cheap and steal.
