Have you started to divide your perennials yet? Yesterday I dug up extra shasta daisies in the front yard and moved them alongside the garden gate. I’m hoping by next summer they’ll be nice and tall and I’ll be able to cut a few flowers for inside the house. 
Heirloom tomatoes… they just keep rolling in.

I may or may not have taken pruning shears to the park and brought back a bouquet of oak branches. Could that be considered a crime? Maybe they’ll throw me out of here. {One can only hope, right?}.
Remind me never to buy a coir doormat again. Pretty, but what a mess!

I need to read more books like the stuff that never happened. I read it in two days and it kept me guessing to the very end. I highly recommend it.

Wait, you’re wearing a big coat like that already? Goldie is enjoying watching for squirrels too, but right now she’s barking from the window at our neighbor on his tractor! As for me, I’m praying the rain holds off today so I can go watch my oldest son’s XC meet! And I’m working on my new fall line of jewelry.

Exciting? Eh. Godzilla (16months) and Rodan (2yrs 5months) keep things at least interesting. I’m most productive when I’m multitasking so they make sure I’m always doing SOMETHING.

Boring here too! Took up the squash and tomatoes plants this morning. It’s about 94 degrees and humid. Got the chores done early! This afternoon, I will spend some time in the sewing room.

If it makes you feel better I’m stuck at work with nothing to do right now, and I can’t leave even though my wedding is in less than 10 days and I have more errands to run than I thought possible. It’s a very frustrating situation over here.

You should try a Carhartt coat. Sportco in Fife has men’s and women’s. Even though I am 5’3″, I prefer the men’s coat. They DO NOT rip or tear. They last a long, long time. They are great coats for working outdoors.

today was the first day of school in the district where I work. So exciting to see all the kids with their new backpacks, seeing their buddies for the first time. Giving hugs to the mommies who are dropping their children off for the first day of school ever. And then of course helping peel the kindergarten child who is adhered to mom and she tries to sneak out the classroom door. Assuming the hearing loss from the screams will not be permanent. (the child is fine now by the way, already made a new friend!)

We are installing wood floors in our kitchen. We’ve been remodeling it bit by bit for two months now and finally we are getting to the finishing stages!! Woot!!

My exciting day yesterday. It was really hot – over 90. So…. the dogs went out and the dogs came in, the dogs went out, I filled their kiddy pool, they played, and then the dogs came in. All day long nothing but in and out. I sewed kids quilts for XMAS. No way was I going out!

Seems like summer has returned here today, near the border north of you, Mavis, but I wouldn’t say my life is more exciting than yours. Yesterday and today, finally got the last of the corn picked, with way too many earwigs along for the ride for at least a little excitement; shucked and stripped 70 ears and put up 15 quart-size bags into the freezer. Turned all the windfall apples from last week’s storm (now THAT was exciting!) into a good supply of freezer applesauce, too. Need to hire a tree service to clean up the damaged locust tree next to the house, but procrastinating, as it’ll cost a bundle. (Maybe they’ll trade some corn and applesauce and fresh eggs for the service! A thousand dollars worth?)
Must clean my mom’s house, and then relatives coming for dinner. Off to the races….

Well I hardly ever comment, but I’m looking every day! I enjoy your blog, Instagram etc! I’ve been quilting a lot lately, and enjoy it very much. My garden had been ok this year, unfortunately the tomatoes got red spider mites I had never even heard of them before! Horrible, horrible, horrible ! They have really almost killed all of the tomatoes. I tried organic spray first and then had to use Sevin, and it didn’t even kill them all! Repeated spraying necessary. But between that and the drought the tomatoes haven’t done well, the zucchini on the other hand is out of control!!! I’ve also had arugula all summer long which is strange for me, usually it’s spring and fall! I don’t know if my life’s any more exciting than yours, but keep up the good stories from yours!

Picked a bushel of toms this morning and the plants are still loaded but the bees were out in abundance and I’m highly allergic so spent the day indoors mostly. Made a zuchinni blueberry cake with lemon buttercream, used up the ripe bananas in a batch of banana pecan muffin I tucked in the deep freeze. Baked a batch of waffles to store in frig to warm up in the toaster as needed. Did laundry, read a few chapters of Three Many Cooks. And, started to knit a preemie hat for the local hospital. Need it to get a bit colder here before I venture to do some serious cleaning up in the garden. It was still low eighties. I enjoy reading about your life Mavis. Do you still have gnomes about? or were all donated? I painted a few of my flamingos blue and planted them in the ever expanding thyme patch. Just because.

Sorry Mavis – Can’t help today. The only thing that I did a happy dance about was seeing the first silverbeet sprouts pop out of the potting mix.
