This is Ryan. He works for Botanical Interests Seed Company and he likes to send me presents. I’ve been married to the Handsome Husband for 18 years, but ever since Ryan found out I was on a mission to grow 2,000 pounds of vegetables in my backyard, he’s been trying to woo me with seed packets, and I must say… it’s totally working.

I’m going to pick American Purple Top Rutabaga because I think rutabagas are a forgotten vegetable! They are so tasty and yet I can never find them at the store here. The organic Danvers carrots – we grew carrots for the first time this year and they far exceeded our expectations for tastiness and grow-y-ness (that ought to be a word). The Danvers ones are supposed to grow well even in tough soil, which is definitely what we have.

My favorite packet would be the Large Heirloom Packet of Fairy Meadow Seeds. Lovely packet…and awesome flowers. I’m known for my vegetable gardening…but last year I started to ramp up the flowers…for my bees…so a Meadow of Fairy Flowers sounds awesome.

I love their seeds…in addition ~ the packages are so pretty. I just looked through my seed packets and found that I have an UNOPENED package of Botanical Interests Super Sugar Snap pea seeds…how did I miss planting those? Maybe at the time I thought the package was too pretty to open…who knows what I was thinking!

My favorite seeds from the Botanical Intrests site are the Heirloom Luffa Gourds. Dry them and fill/cover with handmade soap and they are great in the shower or bath. Makes a great winter time project and is a swell gift for any friend or family member.

So many to choose from but my fav is Broccoli Raab Rapini, because I can hear my sister’s father-in-law saying in his thick Italian accent, “Dyoo wanna some rapini? Issa good forra you!” And it’s great sauteed with garlic in a little olive oil. Delicioso!

Mavis, I am way down in central Florida and just love your website. I grow organic as best I can fighting the bugs down here with garlic and ivory soap spray. I really liked tthe large selection of seed collections. They have gone to the trouble of putting collections together for you whether container gardening or basic bounty collection. I use their flower seeds this summer. My favorite seed is their Strawberry fields flower. Looks just like little strawberries in your bouquet!

I’m gonna say Cover Crop Soil Builder Peas/Oats Organic Heirloom Seeds. I have horrible soil and amended it this year with compost but it’s still in really bad shape. I’m going to plant a cover crop and will be planting some of my garden beds with the seeds listed above and the rest of my beds with red clover and see if this will help.
