Friday night at the movies just won’t be the same around here now that The Girl is gone, but in an effort to carry on our tradition, I decided to put together a quick Friday night movie care package for her and her roommates.
I kept it pretty simple and sent her a DVD {I picked The Princess Bride}, a package of red vines, some candy bars and a box of microwave popcorn for her to share with her peeps. I stacked all of the items together and tied them with a bow.
I don’t know about you, but the whole idea of getting care packages kind of makes me want to go to college. 🙂

Such a good mommy you are! I LOVED getting (and now sending) care packages at college. I always appreciated the thought and my roomies always liked the treats-and always raved how lucky i was to have someone at home spoiling me from afar!

My mom sent me my Easter basket as a care package all four years of college. It was always awesome.

I recommend sending shampoo, shaving cream, deodorant, etc. College kids aren’t gross (well, most aren’t) but when you’ve got limited cash and your options are replenish shampoo or go to the movies, the college age mind isn’t always going to make the best choice! You can set up an Amazon subscribe n’ save of commonly used items – just remember to skip it over the summer and update the address if they move dorms/addresses each year.

On the first anniversary of his open-heart surgery, I sent my then 27 year old a microwave popcorn tub filled with movie theater size boxes of candy. Also included a “Happy Mended Heart Day” card a friend created for the occasion. It’s not just college students that enjoy care packages.

I send my grown-up kids random care packages now and then just for fun. It’s another way to be connected.

My son is in his 2nd year of residency. I still send him care packages. I fill them with healthy snacks and favorite foods from his hometown.
