Yesterday Lucy puggle played with her “babies” outside in the sunshine for about 2 hours straight. I don’t think the chicks or Lucy wanted to come inside even though it was starting to sprinkle. Lucy has been around baby chicks off and on since she was 3 months old, so it’s no wonder they get along so well together.
The girls are finally past the awkward stage and their feathers are starting to fill out nicely. Our Welsummer is the calmest bird in the bunch. She mostly likes to pal around with her bff Glamour Eyes.
Glamour eyes is our Sicilian Buttercup. Even at 5 weeks she is still sporting the black eyeliner. She’s a feisty one I tell you. Always the last one to be caught when it’s time to go inside, but she is so much fun.
Our Silver Cochin isn’t the smartest one in the bunch {always the first one to be caught} but that’s okay, I’m pretty sure her eggs will still be delicious even if she does spend most of her time eating moss and laying in the sun. 😉
And then, there’s Buttercup. She He’s a Light Brahma.
Buttercup has begun to challenge Lucy every chance he gets.
He will charge up to Lucy and try to scare her off… but when it doesn’t work he just storms off in a bit of a huff.
Oh Lucy. You’re such a good chicken mama. Kissing your babies and herding them back to garage everyday. It’s going to be so sad when we have to pass them off to the Hillbillies next week. 🙁

Oh Lucy is going to miss her little chicks. You will have to make many trips to Mrs. HB for visitation.

I will, don’t worry.
