Yesterday, The Girl and I stopped by the Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum in Seattle. If you have never heard of the garden, it’s basically an immaculately kept garden {and museum} with glass art placed throughout—it’s amaze-balls.
In fact, I think if the HOA could see how tasteful yard art could be, they might sing a new tune. Hmmm, on that note, I wonder if they make glass flamingos?
The garden is named after the artist Dale Chihuly who created all of the glass artwork. At night, they light the glass sculptures and with the plants, let me tell you, Bob, it is really something else.
The museum is designed to follow the career and works of Dale Chihuly. It has both inside and outside exhibits…all of which will blow you away {pun intended}.
You can make a day of it by stopping off for lunch at the cafe and perusing the bookstore.
The museum is open Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Friday through Sunday 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., so you can choose whether you want a daylight, nighttime or sunset experience. If you are ever in the Seattle area, I totally recommend checking it out.
You can find the Chihuly Garden and Glass in Seattle, WA at:
305 Harrison St., Seattle, WA 98109.

Gorgeous. The lobby in the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas has his glasswork, too.

Thank you for taking pictures! My group didn’t want to do the garden with me yesterday, so we skipped it. It is actually the #1 recommend thing to do in Seattle by TripAdvisor. I might just go do it by myself ☺️ Too beautiful!

I haven’t got to go there but I have been to two exhibits, one in Portland and one in Boise. He is my favorite artist. Did you take time to watch the videos of Chihooly Over Venice. He took over several of the bridges with his chandeliers hanging underneath with extra baubles floating around. It looks fantastic, and I don’t know how many days it was there. You probably could find the videos of this special showing and also other video’s of his work. I am showing my age, but when I watched them at these art galleries, they were on video..before cds. I also got to see the wonderful ceiling at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. If I ever get to Seattle, I will definitely head toward Tacoma to his Glassworks Studio and to see this garden.

I particularly recommend the Tacoma Glass Museum to those with children. We went a few times with the kids and they still remember seeing art being made in front of them in the forge, as well as making art in the workshop. Don’t go expecting to walk through and be done – go enjoy the experience: walk through the art exhibits, spend some time making art in the workshop room(s), watch glass art being made in the forge.
I was so frustrated watching a couple school groups go through – do this, watch that, walk through, done. Aaaugh! No!
Walk through, leisurely, go make art and don’t leave until everyone in your group is done, and then observe the glass being blown and shaped *until everyone in your group is done*. I emphasize the *everyone* part because I really think it’s important for each person to get everything they can out of the experience.
Afterwards, go for a meal at the Spaghetti Factory, particularly if you haven’t been there before. Make a reservation at night.
