I’m trying to keep in mind that I made these chocolate orange biscotti to be used as Christmas gifts for the neighbors, but I just keep scarfing them down.
They are so. freakin. good. But if you have more self control than I do, these really would make cute friend gifts if you throw them in a cute coffee mug and wrap them up with fun ribbons, etc.

PrintChocolate Hazelnut Orange Biscotti
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 3 large eggs
- 3 large egg yolks
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 1 tablespoon almond extract
- 3/4 cup hazelnuts, chopped
- 3/4 cup mini chocolate chips
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Stir flour, cocoa, sugar and baking powder together.
In a separate bowl whisk together the eggs, yolks, almond extract and orange zest.
Add wet mix to dry mix and stir for about 2 minutes or until dough forms.
Stir in hazelnuts and chocolate chips. Roll the dough into 3 logs {about 10×2 inches}. Place a piece of parchment onto a baking sheet and place the logs on the sheet.
Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown.
Cool 5 minutes before using a serrated knife to cut logs into 1/2-inch thick pieces {cut at a slight diagonal}.
Reduce oven temp to 300. Return cut biscotti to baking sheet, spacing apart so sides aren’t touching.
Bake for 20 minutes until crisp and dry. Cool completely.

What a great tip about the coffee mug! I never know quite how to package up things so this is a big help.

I love giving biscotti in mugs. Just wrap with cello or Saran wrap and it’s ready to give. 🙂
