Ever since The Girl Who Thinks She’s a Bird and Monkey Boy were small, we have always made a tube of Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls for Christmas breakfast. It’s not exactly idyllic, or something you would see in a Norman Rockwell painting, but I’m pretty sure we are stuck with it forever because The Girl won’t let us do anything different.
Which is probably a good thing, because if it was up to Monkey Boy, we’d be eating Doritos every year on Christmas morning.
Do you have a Christmas morning breakfast tradition? Would Norman Rockwell have wanted to paint it?
If you are unsure what you’ll be making this year, here are a few ideas.

Baked French Toast with Blueberries
Quiche with Kale, Bacon, Mushroom and Cheese
Baked Oatmeal with Blueberries

Cinnamon rolls and sausage links. Every year since forever. When I was a kid, we had a chocolate chip cookie (or 3) just to keep hunger away so we could open presents!

We also have Pillsbury Cinnamon rolls but we also have the Pillsbury Orange rolls.

Same here. We always do Pillsbury cinnamon rolls. I have thought about trying something else but the family always vetoes and wants the cinnamon rolls. Since we never have cinnamon rolls any other time for breakfast, it has become a special tradition.

We do the pillsbury rolls too.. Always did as a kid. In fact, when I married my hubby I was worried about what to serve his parents on Christmas morning- they’re HUGE bakers/cooks and I thought they’d want a fancy spread.. Turns out he grew up on the Pillsbury rolls too! hooray- match made in heaven!

No Pillsbury- but probably as equally non Norman Rockwell-ish…..we do breakfast pizza, from a gas station, haha! I have a 1 year old and a 2 1/2 year old and after we open present we go to my parent’s house. So breakfast pizza just makes it easier to get some food in our mouths while opening gifts.

Brown Sugar Pecan Bacon is becoming a thing for Xmas morning, and deviled eggs….

This year I’m making everyone pans of from scratch cinnamon rolls topped with raspberry jam and cream cheese frosting. I found a super easy recipe that requires NO KNEADING on the pioneer woman blog that makes a super huge batch. I made a test batch on Friday…made some straight up cinnamon rolls, some with the raspberry jam and some as pecan sticky buns. I am a new neighborhood favorite 🙂
That and scrapple is a Christmas breakfast staple.

Ever since my kids were little we make pigs in a blanket using the cocktail sausages and crescent rolls.

Same here except we prefer the orange ones. It makes Christmas morning so much easier and Norman Rockwell will never know.

Another Pillsbury Christmas breakfast here. I stay up the night before making my rice pudding and we have that with the rolls on Christmas morning. And we open our stockings at the table while eating. This year we’re out of town for Christmas so I’m not sure what the mother-in-law is making, but I’m sure it’s neither.
If I don’t holla before then, have a great great Christmas, Miss Mavis! xoxo
