Guess what I’m doing today?
Mrs. HB turns 50 in a few days so I’m taking her to get a colonoscopy. Good times. I’m sure it won’t be as exciting as walking around the harbor and getting a cup of tea.. but hey, quality time. If she’s up for it, maybe we’ll go to our favorite place {Panera!} afterwards for lunch. That’s what friends are for. Right? 🙂 🙂 🙂

Mavis – I am sad to report that she is not going to feel up to it after the procedure. She is going to need to rest most of the day. It is a very necessary but very unpleasant procedure. 🙁 Make plans for the next day!

Great minds think alike! My husband is sitting next to me moaning and groaning from discomfort. Taking him this afternoon. Good times indeed. Bringing the last of the Christmas cards to finish up while I wait.
Like the others, I was starving after and the prep (which is truly unpleasant) was but a distant memory. We feasted afterwards as well!

Okay, forgive me for being soooo nosy, but….how in the world could she be only 50? You, I would guess, are in your late 30s or so and your kids are grown. I don’t get this math. And, I and my husband felt fine after both our colonoscopies (we’ve had two each) so I doubt she will not feel like going to lunch. After all, you are knocked out during the procedure. You can’t feel a thing. Have NO idea how people think it is “unpleasant.”

The prep is unpleasant. The procedure is painless if done correctly.

Each person is different. Each time might be different. I have had 3 colonoscopies and had nausea and vomiting after each one – a combination of the prep the night before, the sedation and the narcotic on an empty stomach. All I wanted was my bed and I slept for five blissful, dreamless hours.

Usually all I want is FOOD! I never have any problems (knock on wood) and the last time I drove myself home against the advice of the nurses!
