Did you know today is National Tea Day? Yes, yes it is! So in honor of National Tea Day I wanted to tell you about the T-Magitic collapsible tea kettle I’ve packed in my bag for every trip I’ve taken over the past 2 years.
Yes, it is really that cool! And yes, the thing paid for itself after just two trips from not having to buy hot beverages at the airport for me and my travel companions. 😉
If you are an avid tea drinker like me, then you’ll want to add this to your packing list the next time you travel. I’m not a heavy packer {1 carry on and a personal item is my limit} but I always make room for my collapsible kettle when I travel.
I first discovered the collapsible kettle waiting for a flight at Logan airport. I asked a family who was using one to heat up water for their ramen cups if I could snap a photo. They said yes, and then I sent it to The HH and told him I needed one.
By the time I had landed, the kettle was ordered and by the time I returned home, the kettle had already arrived. 😉
I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but more and more hotel rooms are removing coffee makers from their rooms. I suppose it’s a way for companies to save money and get guests to purchase a coffee in the lobby? Who knows.
All I know is that I love my collapsible tea kettle and if you’ve an avid tea drinker like I am, maybe you want to look into getting one too.
It’s so easy to use! Just flip the handle up.
Raise the kettle walls and pop the handle in the slot, fill it to the water line, put the lid on, plug it in and turn the kettle on.
It’s really that easy! To quote OHAM reader Michelle, “The collapsible tea kettle is the best invention ever!!” Yes Michelle, it really is! You can use it anywhere there’s an outlet. 😉
Keep Calm and Carry On,

One of the best travel tips yet! Thank you!

I never knew such a thing existed! It looks so handy.

I think they’ve been removing coffee makers for sanitary reasons. Apparently, they aren’t cleaned and get filthy. It didn’t help when a social media influence recently did a tutorial on how to wash underwear in a hotel room coffee maker. I have to order this!

I’ve seen those “how to wash your personal items” in coffee makers in hotels for years. No way on earth would I drink anything out of a hotel coffee maker! 🙂
Amber says
I am so glad I have not seen that. But I am thoroughly disgusted now.
Jeanine says
That’s insane….no way am I having coffee from a coffee maker again!
Dawn says
I’m an occasional tea drinker and even I want one of these now.

So….Apparently you’ve been lucky enough to miss the insta post about the woman who uses the hotel coffee pot to clean her unmentionables with. She did claim she was joking after the backlash but she did film herself using a hotel coffee pot.

Wow, I’ve never heard of such a thing and I love it! We’re traveling to California tomorrow for a road trip up the coast and I’ve already ordered an inexpensive coffee pot from Target to pick up in SF, use for two weeks, and then donate to Goodwill or gift it to the owners of the last Air BnB we stay in because there’s no way on earth I would ever use a coffee pot in a hotel or AirBnB — too many horror stories.
Will definitely be investing in one of these!

We don’t need to be coy about her identity. She was pleased as punch to ‘influence’ the world with her ‘brilliant hack.’ after all.
Tara Woodcox is her name. And apparently, filth is her game!

I have carried an immersion coil for years. Recently, I added a collapsible kettle to my travel/camping gear. Don’t limit yourself to hot water for tea or coffee. I’ve boiled eggs in mine. Ramen and add water foods, such as freeze-dried entrees (in separate bowls) should work well, too.
Marcia says
OMG I def need this. No, most of the hotels I’m at still have coffee makers. But this is even better.

When I travel and will be staying in a hotel for awhile, I pick up a Dash mini rice cooker. It’s worth the 20ish bucks to heat water and cook or reheat food in my room.
