The kids are heading back to school soon, crock pot season is around the corner and it’s almost time to break out the Snuggies. Wahooooo! I couldn’t be happier.
Here are a few tried and true recipes for this week.
3 Breakfast Ideas
Blueberry Cinnamon Buttermilk Waffles – Before The Girl heads back to college, I hope to have a couple of lazy Sunday breakfasts where I treat her to a little somethin’ somethin’ special. I think these waffles would do the trick. {Pin it for Later}
Spinach, Strawberry and Blueberry Smoothie – Summer days make breakfast through a straw feel like all is good with the world. It doesn’t hurt that you can spend your morning feeling a little self-righteous that you are a health fiend. 🙂 {Pin it for Later}
Raspberry Muffins – Have I mentioned that I like to make a double batch of muffins and freeze 1/2? I think they freeze really well, and sometimes it’s so nice to grab them out of the freezer and not have to make anything. {Pin it for Later}
4 Lunch Ideas and Dinner Ideas
Creamy Avocado Pasta – This recipe is so simple and delicious it will surprise you. {Pin it for Later}
Crockpot Lasagna Soup – This has the taste of lasagna with the ease of a crockpot, need I say more? {Pin it for Later}
Slow Cooker Brown Sugar and Garlic Chicken – This stuff is divine over a bed of rice. {Pin it for Later}
Quinoa with Raspberries and Oranges – Raspberries are back on, so this yummy lunch is on the menu. It’s nutrition packed and keeps really well for several days in the fridge. {Pin it for Later}
Blueberry Custard Pie – I have been in a pie mood the past couple of week. I love this recipe because you can use frozen berries–which for the record, are pretty affordable at Costco {at least 6 months of shopping there taught me that much}. You can substitute pretty much any frozen berry in this recipe. {Pin it for Later}
S’mores Cookies – Now that we have a fire pit, s’mores are on the menu a lot. If you don’t have that option, though, these cookies will satisfy your fix. {Pin it for Later}
Ginger Peach Freezer Pops – Peaches have hit the stores, which means it’s time to make yourself a batch of these. Don’t let the ginger scare you, it is awesome in these popsicles. {Pin it for Later}
Featured Freezer Meal Recipe
Freezer Meal Lasagna with Goat Cheese, Mozzarella and Fresh Basil – August always brings out the squirrel in me–I feel like I need to start stashing food away for winter. I’d like to think I eat a heck of a lot better than a squirrel, though, with this lasagna recipe. {Pin it for Later}
How to Can Fresh Corn – Roadside stands selling fresh corn are popping up all over the place in my neck of the woods. It’s time to snag some up and get to canning. {Pin it for Later}

Hi Mavis! Read here how you will be canning some corn. I freeze over 100 ear of corn this time of year. Freezer space is always limited, so I can where I can, ahem where I am able. Lol. I have heard more negative reviews of canned corn losing flavor and not being worth it. What are your thoughts? Your recipes have never led me wrong!!

Hi Jen, if you like store bought canned corn then you’ll like home canned corn. Some people prefer one or the other. I think they both taste great.
