Word on the street is temps are going to be in the mid 70’s today here in Pacific Northwest. I guess that means I need to get out there and water my garden. I have yet to turn on the sprinklers yet this year and I’m trying to hold off as long as possible.
Do you have a kiddie pool for your dog? I’ve been thinking about getting Lucy one because she likes to spend so much time outside. What do you think? I’d love to know if you have one and if it gets used.

We have two dogs, a small pug mix and an 85 lb. hound mix. The big guy has very little interest in the kiddie pool, but the little guy loves it. He will go running and take a flying leap right in and lives to splash around. We are in the Northeast so we get our share of hot weather. The pool does get dirty pretty quickly from mucky little paws even though we keep it in a grassy area. Junk from the trees and bugs end up in there too, so it does need to be dumped out, cleaned and refilled more than we anticipated.

We have 5 dogs. 2 Labs, 1 Black & Tan Coon Hound, 1 Heeler and a Jack Weenie. We live in Arkansas and have already had heat index temps over 100 and we are having a “good year”! A kiddie pool is almost a necessity. We do change the water daily because that would just be gross not to with 5 dogs . Just watching them play is worth the hassle.

When I got my Big Dog (a Newfie/lab mix) many years ago I thought since he had a water-dog background on both sides he would appreciate a cooling kiddie pool—nope…wouldn’t take one step into even with his toys floating in it. Show him a creek, river or ocean though and he would go bounding into the water as fast as he could. Ended up using the pool to mix dirt and compost in for the garden!!!

We have two black labs (brother/sister) and he loves our little kiddie pool and she won’t go in it. We pass a natural spring on our runs which they both love to get in, so not sure why she won’t get in the kiddie pool. We dump the water after each use. I say go for it!

My Golden retrevier absolutely loved her kiddie pool, my corgi who loves shallow water at a lake, did not like the kiddie pool at all.

Since our one dog loves to play with the water as it comes out of the hose I thought they might like a small kiddie pool. So far they show no interest. Maybe if I put a sprinkler in it…

My 80 pound boxer didn’t care for the pool I got her when she was 9. She would drink out of it but wouldn’t get in it. My 1 year old heeler loves the pool! She gets really hot and will lay in puddles of water while on walks so I knew she’d love it. Problem is she thinks water bowls are mini pools and paws the water, similar to a cat.
