Quote of the Day “The value of experience is not in seeing much, but seeing it wisely.” Sue William Osler
Hello Friday. I’m so glad you are here!
After a rocky start {bad headache} yesterday morning the day gradually got better and my lingering headache is pretty much gone now, thank goodness. I put a compression eye mask on as soon as I woke up and it seemed to help. Also, I’m wondering if my computer screen is too bright and that’s been contributing to my headaches too. My eye sockets hurt more than they used to when I had my old computer so I should probably figure out how to turn down the brightness on the silly machine.
Also, The Girl and I are about almost with picking all the clover and moss out of the front yard. YEE HAW! I had no idea when we started this little project that it would take so stinking long. But once it’s done, I can finally get the grass seed planted.
Real life. It’s pretty exciting. 😉
And, if you are harvesting zucchini already, or plan to in the near future, be sure and check out my recipe for zucchini relish. It’s great on burgers and hot dogs {and HELLO, a great way to use up zucchini}.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone,
♥ Mavis

I had migraines for years, but realized that there were a series of food triggers that caused them. I can eat all of these foods, but I have to be moderate or I get a headache within 8-24 hrs. Maybe one of these things is the culprit. Aspartame/NutraSweet is the worst, but dried fruits, red wine, aged cheeses like Parmesan, and cured meats (including high quality salami, ham, and hot dogs) all can trigger one if I eat too much. I hope you are feeling better!
Mavis Butterfield says
Maybe it was some sort of food trigger. I know I can’t do Aspartame/NutraSweet but it wasn’t that. Hmmm.

You’re pulling out the clover?! It’s a traditional parts of the lawn, and clover seed used to be in grass seed mixes (as I’m told.) Clover feeds the bees, and naturally adds nitrogen to the soil. I love the clover in my lawn, and I have violets too, which add phosphorus. I also have dandelions. They’re a dynamic accumulator, which means they add all sorts of nutrients to my lawn. (That’s my excuse, and I’m sticking to it.)
Mavis Butterfield says
I live in la la land so I need to pull it. Wouldn’t want to get a fine from the HOA. Trust me, my next place…. I won’t care if there is clover in the yard. 🙂 I’m just trying to behave and get through it day by day right now.

Love your blog! I have a question about your floors — they’re beautiful! Are they real wood, laminated wood, or vinyl? I have seen vinyl planks that I love, but wondered about their durability. What do you have, and what would you recommend?
Mavis Butterfield says
They are real wood. There is some really nice laminated flooring out there too. Personally, I like the wood floors because they wear really well.

Regarding your headaches: You may have developed CVS-computer vision syndrome, which can cause headaches among other things. Might need special glasses now if you spend extended periods of time on the computer and you are over 40.
