Quote of the Day “Every dreamer knows that it is entirely possible to be homesick for a place you’ve never been to, perhaps more homesick than for familiar ground.” ~ Judith Thurman
Hello Friday! A high of 85 is in the forecast for today and tomorrow. Eeek! Luckily though the temps are supposed to drop to 55 and rain on Sunday so we won’t totally melt. On the agenda for this weekend:
- Rest my eyes. They hurt. I’m not sure if it’s because of everything is in bloom in the backyard or I’m spending too much time staring at a screen.
- Finish flower bouquets {the wool kind}
- Continue working on clearing the {future} corn patch
- Laundry
- Make a batch of scones or muffins
- Clean, clean clean
How about YOU? Going clubbing? Hopping a flight to Paris? Scrubbing the bathtub? Doing anything exciting this weekend? I want to hear about it!
Have a great weekend everyone, and stay out of trouble.
♥ Mavis

We are headed to Spokane for my son’s first baseball tournament of the year. Did you hit up any bakeries when you were there that you can suggest? I think I remember an epic fail high tea, but I’m not sure about bakeries.

Leaving for the beach this afternoon!! Though it looks like we’ll be getting tons of rain while we’re there we’ll have lots of fun anyway because of the people we”ll be with!
Also, 3 weeks from today my family and I will be headed to Boston and New England for a week! Please send suggestions for things not to miss! We’d like to stay 2-3 days in Boston then hit the neighboring states briefly just to say we’ve been! 🙂 When you’re traveling all the way from Arkansas you never know when you might make it back that way so we want to make the most of it!!

Laughing at 85. Our highs for next 10 days are 100 – 104 !! High desert so mornings and evenings are cool. We will be cooking out with family..

We’re having a half birthday party for my son, age 34.5! Saturday is prep, Sunday the party and Monday is the Memorial Day parade and resting.
Starting the festivities with a Dutch Baby brunch, then crafting (we’re making acrylic pour paintings), then cake and ice cream. Later I’ll make a pizza on the grill and big salad. Finish it off with game night. I love made-up occasions. Lol!

Well, hopping a train to Paris from Bordeaux in the morning. We are returning to Paris and then home after a 10 day family trip. I am a long time reader.

It’s gonna be a hot one in Michigan this weekend (high 80’s and a couple 90’s). I’m going to try and finish planting my veggies and flowers and then relax until Monday when we go to a big flea market. Love flea markets!

It did nothing but rain in SE FL today.

Once a year is the only time our town allows garage sales and that day was today! I went for two very specific items and found them both and a whole lot more pretty cool stuff I couldn’t live without. Tomorrow is predicted to be 90 in Michigan. It’s gonna be a hot one. The tomatoes and peppers are loving it! Happy Memorial Day Mavis.

Just has to drop you a quick note saying my husband and I stopped at King Arthur Flour in Norwich, Vermont. The place is amazing. We watched them making wheat bread and cinnamon raisin. The gift shop, wow! I might have gone a little crazy in there. Love their selection of baking pans and assceories. The cafe, OMG! Breakfast items were outstanding. All those homemade bake goods and fresh breads. The lunch menu had so many different sandwiches fixings and different breads to put them on. We had brunch while we were there and walked out with a big bag of fresh blueberry scones and bacon onion chives ones, plus hubby bought several different breakfast pastries. Everyone should definitely make a stop and visit. I bet you can walk out without buying something. Thanks for the heads up on this one Mavis.

I was outside at 7am planting the last 15 tomato plants – Siberia, I have everything planted and all is up and growing 🙂
Picked calendula, borage and lemon balm for youngest daughter from her BEAUTIFUL herb garden. I LOVE the way it looks ….it is about 4′ wide and goes down the whole side back yard – about 80′. It’s so lush and she has a wide variety of herbs.
Spent about 20 minutes watching a crow trying to get the string that is wrapped around the bean teepee. Yeah…I’m easily entertained! 🙂
Picked some radishes, put a couple pots of squash seeds in the hoophouse, made tartar sauce for the fish we’re having for dinner, and all the usual daily chores.
No clubbing for me…..I’m in bed by 9 !!!! (sometimes earlier)
