Quote of the Day “Better to live one day as a tiger than a thousand years as a sheep.” Tibetan proverb
Hello Sunday!
What’s the weather like in your neck of the woods? Today is supposed to be a high of 75 degrees and I think I’ll harvest some veggies and then get the garden beds planted for fall. I’m thinking another round of beans, some beets, carrots, green onions, more cucumbers, zucchini and maybe even some kale for smoothies. Have you started to think about your fall garden yet? If so, what are you going to plant? I’d love to hear about it.
Have a great day everyone, be sure and sneak a wee nap. 😉

We are on the road, 11 day trip, 10 people 70 to 11, one 15 passenger rental van, Yellowstone, Mt Rushmore, Jewel cave , Bandlands, and more. In the end 40 plus hours of driving. It’s going to be a great adventure.
Mavis Butterfield says
Oh my word Margery…. Have fun!
Nora says
Hi Mavis!
Just a question: this proverb you used today – we have it as a graffiti here but it reads “Better to be a tiger for a day than a sheep for a lifetime”. Which one is correct? Thanks! Have a nice Sunday!
Hazel says
I’ve got cabbage in (red and January King), kale, some carrots, endive, turnips and a few other bits. I’m also just about to sow an experimental polyculture bed with spring onions, oriental greens, chicory, carrots and some other seeds are reading the suggestion on the website of a permaculture gardener in the Netherlands. Should be interesting 🙂
Carolina says
You will need those turtleneck shirts when you move to MA/NH/ME/VT—they are great for “layering.” It is said that if you don’t like the weather here, wait 20 minutes—it will change. I love your “chicken bar b q” sign. But I am just curious, what does the sign on the opposite wall say? I can’t quite make it out.
Mavis Butterfield says
Beware of pickpockets and loose women. 🙂
Mel says
I started celery and pansies under grow lights about a week ago, and I just added kale, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, rapini, cabbage, cauliflower, collards, and Swiss chard. In another week or so, I’ll start beets, and then lettuce, peas, and spinach a week or two after that. I got a couple friends hooked on gardening by gifting them tomato seedlings this spring, so I’m growing some extra seedlings for them to start fall vegetable gardens.
Gale says
Love reading about your goals. I’ve only had one New Year’s resolution each year. Finish one needlepoint project a month. I’m going to make it this year. But, after cleaning bathroom cupboards, my new mid year goal is to use up lotions, potions and soap. Who has 13 bottles of body lotion, 25 bars of soap (big and little) and all kinds of half used face products? Me! Putting a halt to buying this stuff til it’s used up. I’m thinking this goal will carry over a few years.
Mavis Butterfield says
Oh Gail, we have the same problem with soap! 😉 And needlepoint is hard. I wish I could do it but I have a hard time with it because of my eyes.
