We’ve had a glorious cool summer with enough rain to keep things green – living in the upper south. The humidity hasn’t kicked in too much yet either!
On the 4th we head to our son & daughter-in-law’s house to enjoy pork tacos & fireworks. On the 5th they all come to my house for a second grilling party with out of town friends.
Two days of super fun, it may be more than our little morkie Maggie can handle.

We have a local parade and breakfast in our town with a fireworks show at the end of the day. However, my kids are scared of the loud noises and people have gotten notoriously worse manners-wise at parades, so we don’t go. đ Instead we have a really cool Asian mall just north of us that sells really cheap fireworks around the 4th. We had our first annual cheapskate fireworks show last summer for a grand total of $7! It lasted about 25 minutes and the neighbors came over to watch…the fireworks were hilarious. Some of them didn’t work quite right, which just added the to charm and fun of it all.
Afterwards we had hamburgers with macaroni salad and watermelon and browned butter rice crispy treats for dessert. And we didn’t have to fight traffic!

Down to 108 degrees here in Arizona so the Fam and I are hiding inside until the sun goes down! Then hit up the pool (89 degrees) and BBQ! Chickens are chillin’ in their run with the mister systems running full blast and the cantaloupe is loving the sunshine! If you are living in a place that is under 95 degrees, I am jelly!
