Looking for an alternative to the normal, boring, plastic-y Easter basket? Why not make the basket out of the candy?!
These baskets come together quickly and are really inexpensive. You can often find the larger boxes of candy at a drug store on sale for a dollar. And since the basket is made of their favorite sweet treats, you can stuff it with movies or socks or whatever non-sugary trinket kids would love.
Here’s how you make ’em:
Supplies
4 boxes of candy {movie theater boxes of equal size work best}
Long Pixy Sticks or Nerds rope
Cardboard
Glue gun
Easter grass
Directions
Place the boxes in a square on the cardboard, making sure the corners line up {you can use 2 different lengths as long at your parallel boxes are the same length and all 4 boxes are the same height}.
Trace the square shape onto the cardboard and cut it out. Hot glue the edges of the boxes together to secure the square. You’ve just made the sides of your basket.
Next, place a line of hot glue around the edge of the cardboard and press the candy square onto it to secure it. Now you have a bottom to your basket.
The final step is to glue on your Pixy sticks or Nerds rope handle by placing a dot of hot glue on the bottom or top middle of each side of the basket, and then securing the candy handle in place.
Fill the basket with Easter grass and whatever Easter treats you little heart desires!

These are so cute! WE have life-long baskets, butI may do this instead (or too) this year! My 14 YO is SUCH a candy/sugar fiend, she would be beside herself!

This isn’t a project just for kids! This would be great for many adults, too. I have made up many Easter baskets for older peoplè. Some who missed getting one as a child. They all were very happy with the gift and I’m sure they had fun showing and sharing it with friends and familly. Thanks for a great idea.
