With two teenagers in sports, sometimes I feel like I should take out stock in Febreze, or at the very least, at the rate we go through it around here, a loan. Luckily, making your own is super easy and costs literally pennies.
You’ll Need:
Spray bottle {a cheap-o dollar store one will do}
2 Tbsp. fabric softener {any scent that makes your sniffer happy or make your own}
Warm water
2 Tbsp. baking soda
A funnel
Directions:
Place the funnel in the spray bottle. Add baking soda and fabric softener. Fill up the remaining space in the spray bottle with warm water. Screw back on the sprayer and shake, shake, shake.
Now get out there and freshen the crap out of everything you own {that statement might be an oxymoron, but whatever, you get the drift}. 😉

Thanks for the recipe! Silly question that’s probably been asked and answered already: Haven’t you also posted a recipe for DIY fabric softener? Any reason not to use the DIY version in the Febreze recipe?
Mavis Butterfield says
Nope. Here is the link for the DIY Fabric Softener. http://www.onehundreddollarsamonth.com/money-saving-tip-diy-fabric-softener/

Cool, thanks!

For instance… what size spray bottle? They come in small to ginormous. 8oz? 16oz?
Mavis Butterfield says
16 ounce. 🙂

Will the baking soda leave a residue when it dries?
Mavis Butterfield says
Not for me. But then again I don’t spray it on my table. 😉

Have made and used it. Just love it! I’ve used a few drops of my favorite EO because liquid fabric softener tends to make me itch because of the scent and certain EO’s do not.

My best friend gave me a recipe for DIY fabric refresher. It is one part downey fabric softener and three parts rubbing alcohol. The alcohol helps kill germs and when it evaporates you are left with the scent of the downey. Do not add water! When I added water to dilute, it caused the fabric softener to leave spots on the fabric. It gets rid of smoke odors really well. I’m going to try your recipe now.

I’m all about saving money and I’m getting ready to try one of the DIY recipes using Unstoppable beads for the Febreeze spray!
I need to find out if there is such thing as a DIY recipe for a static spray, not only is it expensive but it’s also hard to even find period!
