These decorated candy bars are like a craft, treat and wrapped present all in one. And since I’m all about getting the most out DIY, they seemed like a great idea.
You’ll need:
- Brown, tan, red, black and white construction paper
- Candy bars {the flatter and wider the better}
- Brown pipe cleaners {2 pcs. for each antler}
- Tape
- Glue stick
- Self adhesive goggley eyes
Directions:
- Wrap the candy bar using the brown construction paper like you are wrapping a gift. Make sure to do all of your taping on one side of the candy bar so that you can flip it over and use the tape-free side as your face}
- Using the tan construction paper, cut out a circle for the base of the nose {see pictures} and a semi-circle with scalloped edges for the forehead {see pictures}. Glue onto the candy bar.
- Using the white paper, cut out two half-circles for eyes. Glue them onto the candy bar. {Or use googley eyes}
- Using the black paper, cut out two small circles to use as pupils on the eyes. Glue them on top of the white semi-cirlces.
- Using the black and red paper, cut out two circles that are slightly smaller than the tan circle you cut out for the nose. First, glue the black circle onto the tan circle. Then, slightly offset the red circle on top of the black circle—so that all three colors are showing, giving the nose dimension {imagine me saying that in a very art-sie voice}.
- Wrap a piece of pipe cleaner around another straight piece of pipe cleaner. Repeat the step about 1”-2” up. These will be the antlers, so repeat this step to make the second antler.
- Now tape the antlers onto the top of the candy bar. Make sure to tape them to the back side of the bar so that the tape isn’t visible.
Now, try to convince yourself the kids not to eat them before you give them away.
Merry Crafting,
Mavis
