In the last house, I had plant shelves above my kitchen cabinets–which is basically a fancy way to say I had a spot to set kitchen-y knick knacks which then collected dust. It wasn’t just any dust, either, mind you. It was that greasy grime that builds up and will not easily wipe up. This time around, I decided to go straight up to the ceiling with my shelves to eliminate that problem altogether. I was bragging about this stroke of genius on my part the other day to a friend of mine, and she agreed, but told me how she keeps her grime clean-up to a minimum. It was such a simple and clever solution, I had to share it with all of you.
So, here goes…before you put your decorative whatevers up on the plant shelf, line them with wax paper. No one will be able to see it from the ground, and your decorations/plants will hold it in place. Every couple of months {or 6}, climb up there, throw all of the wax paper away, and re-line them with new wax paper. Grime on wax paper, not on top of cupboards.
Seriously, who needs elbow grease when you’ve got smarts?
