Do you level off your measurements when you bake? Maybe use the back of a knife like mom taught you? Here’s another way to make sure you get precise measurements when you are baking: Take a piece of thick masking tape and cover the edge of your container. Then, everytime you go to measure something out, drag the teaspoon, tablespoon, cup {whatever}, along the tape, and instantly level it. I think this is particularly handy for smaller containers, like cocoa, where getting the overflow to fall neatly back into the container takes a little bit more finesse {gotta avoid food waste, don’t you know}.
Have any of you tried this?

You’ll want to fold the tape 1/3 over to ensure you don’t waste your baking powders. The doubled part is exposed to the foodstuffs. I’ve used this method for years. Hope that helps. Waste not want not my friends.

Some baking items come with an inside liner attached to the rim of the container – I just cut the liner, leaving a clean edge – about 1/3 of it attached and tear out the rest of it. It usually holds up through the life of the product.
Cheryl says
I just cut the liner even and use that and I do it with spices as well as sometimes I want a sprinkle and sometimes I need a teaspoon.

Like Ranee and Cheryl, I generally cut the liners that come in the can. It keeps things nice and neat and I don’t have to fumble with tape. I do add a paper piece (just regular white paper) taped across the top of some of my bigger bins too – like flour and sugar. They all have 1/2 cup scoops in them and it’s so much easier to be able to level the scoops off as they come out of the bins.
