1 1/2 cups warm water
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons active dry yeast
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt

Combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowls and set aside for about 5 minutes or until little bubbles appear and the mixture is a bit foamy.
Next add the flour and salt and mix thoroughly. Turn dough out on to a lightly floured surface and knead dough for about 3 minutes and then form into tight ball. Put the dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap or a damp towel. Let rise at room temperature for 30-45 minutes.
Turn dough out onto a floured surface and then cut the dough into 8 pieces. Roll balls into circles and grill naan bread {or fry in a cast iron skillet} for about 60 – 90 seconds on each side. Enjoy!

May I suggest rubbing a light coating of butter on each naan directly after cooking? Maybe not waistline friendly, but soooo tasty.

Can I substitute 1/2 whole wheat flour instead of using all white flour
Mavis Butterfield says
I haven’t done that yet but give it a try and let us know how it works out. The texture might be a little different but I think it would taste fine.

Fantastic! Brushed them lightly with olive oil and a sprinkle of garlic salt when they were done. Made them tonight with falafel. Family Loved them!

Thanks Mavis, this made our dinner awesome! I went 100% whole wheat because it’s all I ever use, and had to add another 1/8c. water. A tad chewy but in a good way! Will add some garlic next time I think for a little kick!
