I’ve tried different versions of this recipe through the years, but this version is by far my favorite. The honey/soy sauce/sesame combo really hit the spot. Plus, I love when I can use my Crock Pot AND my rice cooker. It’s like marrying my 2 favorite kitchen appliances. And the recipe they produce is totally delicious. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
Ingredients
4 medium boneless, skinless chicken breasts {about 2 lbs}, cut into strips
1 cup honey
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 1/2 teaspoons minced garlic
1/4 cup minced onion
1/4 cup honey barbecue sauce
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
5 tablespoons cold water
2 tablespoons cornstarch
Sesame seeds
Green onions, sliced {optional}
2 cups cooked rice
Directions
Place chicken in the bottom of a large, greased slow cooker.
In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, sesame oil, olive oil, garlic, onion, barbecue sauce and crushed red peppers, water and cornstarch. Pour the mixture into the slow cooker and stir to coat chicken. Cook on low for 4 hours.
Give the chicken a stir, and then using a slotted spoon place the chicken over rice, {I also poured an additional 1/4 cup of the sauce over the chicken} and then sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions and serve.

Have you ever made Louisiana Red Beans & Rice. I make the beans in the crockpot and the rice in the rice cooker, it’s great on a cold Monday night.

Made this today for dinner, it was amazing. The only difference i used Mike’s Hot Honey in place of regular honey. Thanks so much for the recipe.
