Last weekend I hopped a flight to visit my mom for mother’s day. It was short and sweet and full of food. Really, really good food. 😉
I was only there for about 48 hours but the morning after I arrived I went out for an early morning walk and stumbled upon Farine Bakery and Café and decided to pop in and have a look.
I LOVE it when that happens!!! You’re just walking along and all the sudden you see people walking out of a place with pastry boxes and you’re like… Whoa Nelli, I need to go and see what this is about.
It’s always a good sign when you walk into a bakery and you can actually see the bakers creating pastries and other foodstuffs from scratch.
You know it’s not going to be the basic pre frozen {tasteless} stuff everyone else is selling.
For some reason, it seems harder and harder these days to find a place that knocks it out of the park. But Farine Bakery and Cafe in Bellevue, Washington not only did that but they did it very, very well.
This was the real deal. And I knew it. So I made sure and loaded up on every baked good and pastry that caught my eye. And I was not disappointed. 😉
Nourishment comes in all forms. And the way I see it, if you can hit up all the major food groups in one fell swoop {fruit, grains, protein and dairy} is just an added bonus. Right? Yes, yes it is!
The hot chocolate. It was superb!
Cinnamon roll. 10/10
Sticky waffle. Another 10/10.
Everything croissant? FANTASTIC!
Mango tart. I’m not a mango person, but this was really good too.
Blueberry lemon cake? Lovely!
In fact it was all wonderful. {And YES, I did share everything}. 🙂 And the next time I’m in the area, I’ll be headed back for more.
Farine Bakery and Cafe. They got it right! So if you ever find yourself in the area, be sure and pop by for a treat {or five!}. You won’t be disappointed.
Keep Calm and Carry On.

Drooling. Is there anything better than a GOOD bakery?
Sluggy says
The prices seem quite high but then again maybe it’s because of the area it is in?
And all that sugar……not good for a body.
Tina says
These are typical mid range Seattle prices.

All that sugar… Everything in moderation 🙂
Elizabeth says
Oh mercy! I was just thinking how reasonable the prices were. That’s a bargain here in Austin.

An Everything Croissant? How have I never even dreamed of this?!? That sounds amazing.

We are very lucky to have an amazing bakery in Ashcroft, British Columbia. Everything scratch made, real cream and butter. In reply to Sluggy. The prices are not high when every time I go there, like once a week, I only buy one treat. As to the sugar, everything in moderation is my motto with everything.

Also, that bakery looks amazing. What a find. There are six ingredients there that I need to Google and source them out. Thanks so much Mavis for posting this.

Looks fabulous! For the record, I live in Podunk NE OH & those prices seem about right to me.
Thanks for the photos, mavis!

Oh my! I need more details on that lemon blueberry cake, please! I’m here zooming in trying to figure it out. Is it layers of lemon cake, with what type of blueberry filling, lemon icing, and blueberry icing on top of that?! Is there also some lemon icing or glaze on each layer of the cake? I want to try to make this one.

If you happen to be driving near Pella, Iowa, there is a very nice bakery with a lot of ‘Dutch treats’ and other goodies: Jaarsma’s Bakery. (Too long of a drive, though, off the main interstate.) They even dress the part in little Dutch outfits. They didn’t have Olie Bollens the day we went, but I believe they carry them during their Tulip Festival.
