Tonight The Girl and I are going to watch A Christmas Story. It’s pretty much a holiday staple at our house, in fact, we usually watch it more than once over the holidays–and then continue to quote it all year long. It’s one we own, but you can also get it on Amazon Prime and Netflix.
Now don’t shoot your eye out!
Okay, time to fess up. How many times have you seen A Christmas Story?
Peace out Girl Scouts & Merry Christmas,
~Mavis
P.S. I think one of these Christmas Story Leg Lamps would look awesome in my office, don’t you?

My very favorite Christmas movie! 🙂

One of the cable channels airs “24 hours of a Christmas Story” every year starting Christmas eve. I could probably recite the movie from beginning to end (I can do the same with Grease). We use “Frageeeelay” on a daily basis in our home (it must be Italian).

LOL!! At our house too, Lisa! In fact, we forget that everyone doesn’t do that and it’s funny to see the look on someone’s face when we say it and they just think we don’t know how to pronounce it!! It is my 21 year olds favorite movie – we watch it every year…and yes, quote it all year long!

Only seen it once. My parents hated the movie and never put it on as we were growing up and like any other kids, with the choice between cartoons and a live action movie, my sisters and brother always pulled out the cartoons. When I was adult enough to actually appreciate the more adult minded movies I watched it once out of curiosity. It was okay but it was never part of Christmas for me, so it never became a tradition to me. I usually stick to “It’s a wonderful life” and “Miracle on 34 street.” Maybe I’ll watch it again this year… the one time I watched it was at least ten years ago.

Way to many times to count. I normally watch it once or twice until Christmas Eve and then look out! On Christmas Eve every year TBS plays it for 24 hours. So while I am cooking and preparing for the big day it is on the tv. I love it!

Well I must be the only person in Cleveland (or the planet) who has actually never seen the movie. I was around when it was filmed downtown and just never had the desire to watch it. Yep, I am an odd egg. 😉

We recently visited the house where this movie was filmed in Cleveland, Ohio. There’s a small museum there and a gift shop. I have a picture of my husband posing with a BB Gun in front of the Christmas tree there. It was a fun time since we were in the area. http://www.achristmasstoryhouse.com/

We are crazy about this movie. In fact, I gave a real leg lamp to my husband the first year we were married. It is the first decoration we put up each year. We put it in our front window and the people in our neighborhood drive by slowly or stop in front of our house to look at it. The box it comes in actually says “his end up” and “fragile” just like in the movie. We love it.

This is my dad’s favorite Christmas movie, so I’ve seen it at least once a year. He’s given it to me as a gift twice, once on vhs and once on dvd. I remember as a kid he would also play the narration off of a record. I’ve bought him the leg lamp, too! I triple dog dare you to put one on your desk 🙂

I love it too. We have a leg lamp and it resides on our hall table for the holidays and it is fabulous!

When we moved back home 16 years ago, my friends called from Portland on black friday to see where I had been shopping. When I told them I only been to two gun shops instead of the Mall they were shocked. I was buying Red Ryder BB guns. When they found out, they had me buy some for their husbands for Christmas presents. I now have all the Dept 56 houses from A Christmas Story, and every year get the Hallmark ornaments and Fragile leglamp Christmas lights. I was in ToysRUs and they have the leg lamps, leg lamp string of lights etc. Far ra ra ra ra: RA RA RA RA.

I read the book long before the movie. I’ve watched more times than I can remember. I had the great pleasure of attending a pre-Broadway preformace of the live play where I had a leg cookie, a mug of hot Ovalti.ne and my picture taken with my head thru the bunny suit stand up.
