It’s a new month and that means Amazon and Netflix have a boatload of new movies available. If you have not seen it already, Amazon Prime members can watch Angela’s Ashes this month. This one is a hard one to watch and will probably make you cry, but don’t let that scare you off.
The writing {and casting too!} is awesome, and even though it’s a heavy story line, it’s so worth watching. I’ve read the book 3 times. In a nutshell, it’s the childhood story of author Frank McCourt and how his father’s alcoholism wreaks complete havoc on his family. Like I said, heavy stuff. But if you’re in the mood to shed a good tear, this is the perfect movie for you.
Let me know what you think if you decide to watch it–or if you have already seen it.
Peace out Girl Scouts & have yourself a great weekend,
~Mavis

I’ve never seen Angela’s Ashes. But Netflix added season 2 of Anne with an “E”, so that’s what I’ll be watching!

DH and I started watching Anne with an E 2nd season today. We rewatched the last 2 from last year, and have seen 3 of the new season today too. LOVE IT

Loved the book so much! Amazing story. Did not care for the movie as much.

I loved the book so much I had to go to and see Limerick during a trip to Ireland a few years ago. I saw the movie, it was ok but the book is so much better! Franck McCourt also wrote Teacher Man, about his life as a teacher in the US.

“…how his father’s alcoholism reeks complete havoc…”
You mean “wreaks”. When something “reeks”, it is a bad smell.
I’m sorry, but as a word nerd, I can’t let that one go by without pointing out the error. 😉
