A HUGE thank you to Melissa from Facebook who recommended The Bletchley Circle. I watched the 3 part mini series last weekend and it was awesome. It’s about a group of women {one of whom spent her days during WWII cracking Nazi codes} that reunite to track a serial killer before he strikes again. Netflix has it for free!
Let me know what you think if you decide to watch it–or if you have already seen it.
Peace out Girl Scouts & have yourself a great weekend,
~Mavis

I watched The Bletchly Circle on PBS and LOVED IT! Smart women characters, suspense and plenty of different stories going on in the background. Can’t wait to hear what you think of it.

I watched this series on PBS and it was fabulous! I was annoyed there was only three episodes LOL. I enjoyed how it also talked about the efforts of women in WWII. It reminded me of my great aunt who was just a tiny little thing and she was a welder during the war.

I know, I wish they would have turned it into series. 🙁

I agree – it was very good. I only wish it was an ongoing series instead of just a mini-series…
Cecily says
It is an ongoing series. They made four more episodes that began airing January 27th.

Loved Bletchly Circle! You might like the series “Bomb Girls.” It’s similar, although the plot sometimes tends to stray…I bet you’d love “Call the Midwife”!

Thanks for the recommendation. I stayed up way too late watching all 3 episodes.

Hubs and I watched and loved it a couple of months ago for its intelligence and cleverness. Being an older woman, I have long experienced the discrimination shown toward women regarding their intelligence, so it is refreshing to see some homage being paid to a valuable resource. I will look for the new episode!

oh yay! Glad you liked it – I thought that would be right up your alley! Like another commenter mentioned, I think they have just made a 2nd mini-series, sounds like 4 episodes this time around?
My only mistake was to watch this late at night alone – a little too suspenseful to fall asleep right afterward!
And as others have said, you would probably like Call The Midwife – it took me a couple episodes to actually get into it, but it’s a very touching show – also set in 1950s London – 3rd season starts showing on PBS at end of March and Netflix has the first 2 seasons – you have time to catch up…..
