Last week, I started London Hospital–and for the record, I’m hooked. Thanks to readers Janet and Linda, now I have a new series to add to the list. This Friday, I am going to start Foyle’s War. It’s about a detective who investigates wartime crimes in England {War time being WWII}. It gets a solid 5 stars on Amazon, combines drama with historical accuracy, and is set in a small coastal town in England. I’m pretty sure it has Mavis written all over it. {Thanks again for the suggestion!}
Let me know what you think if you decide to watch it–or if you have already seen it. Did you love it? Hate it? Can’t wait to watch it over and over?
Peace out Girl Scouts & have yourself a great weekend,
~Mavis

Love Foyle’s War. Another great series from BBC. I agree with Delores – I think you will love it.

Oops. It’s from ITV, not BBC. Still a great series, but I’m really partial to British shows.

Foyle’s War is awesome. You are going to watch the series all weekend. You might also enjoy Doc Martin on Netflix. I really like your blog and appreciate all the work you put into it.

Excellent series. I also recommend the movie “Enchanted April,” which has Kitchen in the cast. Fantastic, G-rated movie about a group of turn of the century women in England who rent a villa in Italy for the month of April, and how all of their lives change for the better.
Mavis Butterfield says
I’ll take a look! Thanks Madam Chow.

I guess I’m in the minority. It’s ok, but I prefer the rest of PBS’s Masterpiece Mystery series soooo much better. Miss Marple, Sherlock, Inspector Periot (sp?), Endeavor….I just don’t get lost in Boyle’s War like I do the others. Highly recommended Sherlock. Love love love it.

Oops…typo. Foyle’s.

We LOVE Foyle’s War — excellent series. 🙂 We prefer the first seasons that came out set during the war. But the new season also has great acting – love the characters. If you’re a fan of these types, then I’m assuming you’re a “Downtown Abbey” fan as well? lol We are hooked on that show, also.
Mavis Butterfield says
LOVE Downton Abbey!

The last show I watched was Hannibal, because I really like Thomas Harris’ books. It inspired me to cook more.

Mavis,
You Have to watch “Call the Midwife!” My daughter and I watch it on netflix. It’s set in London in the late 50’s, and it’s about a group of midwives that make housecalls for deliveries in a rough part of London. I’m so loving it!! I love the music, the hairstyles, the characters…it’s just sooo good!
Btw, your blog is like one of my very favorite!! You have a wealth of information, and you just crack me up, too!
Keep doin what you do!
THANKS!!! 🙂
