While looking for a movie for the HH to watch tonight, Groundhog Day with Bill Murray popped up on Netflix. We haven’t seen the movie in years {it was made in 1993 after all!}. I think I’ll put together a big platter of pickety bits, build a fire in the wood stove and settle in for a cozy evening at home. With temps hovering around 50 tonight, I think it’s the perfect pick for a fall movie night {even though technically, the movie takes place in February}. 😉
His character is so cranky, I can’t help but love him!
Let me know what you think if you decide to watch it–or if you have already seen it.
Peace out Girl Scouts & have yourself a great weekend,
~Mavis

I made your cobbler last night. I doubled it, used 4 large fresh peaches that is sprinkled corn starch and some sugar in, and used a 9 x 11. It was great warm, and later with ice cream after I ran after some. I give itm5mstars.

We watch Groundhog Day pretty regularly. Love, love, love it! We have Dish, and a lot of times there’s nothing worth watching, so we put in one of our many DVDs. When a movie comes on that we like, we try to record it so on those days that there’s nothing worth watching, we have something to watch. Of course, I’m usually doing something else at the same time. Crocheting, knitting, embroidery, some kind of non mindless craft.

We love that movie. Too warm for a fire here. Have you seen The Great Outdoors or That Thing You Do? Both are great movies.

Groundhog Day is such a classic! That’s a great one to rewatch. A platter of pickety bits sounds delicious (but we’re having frozen pizza tonight because I haven’t been at home enough to make anything for dinner, and I left too early this morning for physical therapy to get anything in the crockpot), and I agree, the cool weather- it’s rainy and chilly here!- make it perfect for a movie night. Enjoy! 🙂

Hey Mavis!
I have to tell you that I had never thought of making a “pickety bits” tray of goodies until seeing your awesome looking trays.
This summer, my hubby and I have started having a few drinks on our patio along with a drink and either dreaming about home renovations or just gazing around at the yard and listening to pandora stations. I decided a few weeks back to make up our own pickety bits tray. My hubby hadn’t said anything about really enjoying the snacks until this week when I suggested making pizza dough and putting a pizza on the grill for our Friday night “happy hour”/backyard date. My hubby said, “Well… I really just like the snacks!” So, pickety bits it is! They are so fun and really a treat. Plus, no work and little cleanup.
Thanks for this fantastic idea! I really, REALLY enjoying seeing the items you put on your tray. Tonight, we’ll be having cheese, nuts, olives (for me), apple slices, crackers, maybe some roast beef slices rolled up, kettle corn, and a few Girl Scout thin mint cookies to top off the evening. I CAN’T WAIT!
I would love to find one of those trays you use for your pickety bits. Any idea of where to find one of those?
Have a great weekend and thanks for the wonderful posts. Your blog is a complete joy!

I LOVE IT! Which trays are you referring to? The white ones came from Target about 10 years ago, the olive boats were from my mother’s house, the silver tray with the wood center came from Pottery Barn {via my mother}. Crate and Barrel also consistently has wonderful and simple white serving dishes too.
