Last week I watched a sweet little movie called Mr. Roger’s and Me. As a child who grew up in the 70’s and early 80’s, I adored Mr. Rogers and his show Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood. Even as a child, I knew there was something genuine about him. The film is just over an hour in length, but if you are a fan, you won’t want to miss it.
With all the animation, and devices kids are constantly glued to these days, it made me glad I grew up in a time when Mr. Rogers was a calming {and non commercial} influence on the telly. This film is currently available with Amazon Prime.
Let me know what you think if you decide to watch it–or if you have already seen it.
Peace out Girl Scouts & have yourself a great weekend,
~Mavis

Amy Hollingsworth, who is in the film, is a good friend of mine! Of course I’ve seen it. 🙂
I didn’t grow up with Mister Rogers, I lived a mile back in a hollow in southwest Virginia and we only got two tv channels sometimes, most of the time only one, and PBS wasn’t one of them. I regret that I missed out on his show.

I grew up watching Mr Rogers (in southern West Virginia Ria!). His show came on PBS just a few years after I was born so I watched him as a child, even when I became ‘too old’ & hid it from my friends that I still watched him. Then again with my son. I cried when he passed away. His influence in our world was such a huge loss & his influence on my character & the character of my son will never be under appreciated by us.
Everyone who watched & loved him has Mr Rogers stories….here are my top two.
The first was when my son was around 4 yrs old. Mr Rogers explained that little boys cannot grow up & marry their mommies. Their mommies were already married to their daddies (that was usually the case then). As I’m cleaning in the kitchen listening my son stomps in & ferociously announced he did not care what Mr Rogers thought….when he grew up he was going to marry me. Of course my mamma heart thought it was just fine that my little boy loved me best.
The second was a few years later. My husband & I were meeting a new step-niece for the first time. We’d spent a few days visiting with my sister & her new family. At one point my husband sat & talked to her for while…we all listened to her sweet innocence. She smiled, a little embarrassed, & said to my husband….’I hope it doesn’t hurt your feelings but you remind me of Mr Rogers.’ Of course he was honored & I was not surprised because he really does talk to children in the same way as Mr Rogers did.
Thanks for sharing the clip. I’ll be watching it with a box of kleenex.
