Tonight The Girl and I are going way back and watching Rodgers & Hammerstein’s State Fair. It was released in 1945, and about a girl and her family going to the State Fair {the most exciting thing all year, don’t you know}. It makes life seem simpler to watch these classics sometimes. If you haven’t seen it, seriously, it’s a hoot.
Let me know what you think if you decide to watch it–or if you have already seen it. Did you love it? Hate it? Can’t wait to watch it over and over?
Peace out Girl Scouts & have yourself a great weekend,
~Mavis

I haven’t seen it in over 30 years, but I still remember the funny little Mincemeat Tester man. Also loved the songs and Pat Boone. I will have to see it again soon. Thanks for the memory.

I love those musicals! 7 Brides for 7 Brothers – you two will really love that one! With a va-va-voom Julie Newmar! Of course, in honor of the passing of Andy Rooney, rent his movies, too. Always a big show to save the day!
renay says
Addtion – those Andy Rooney movies when he was young – the Andy Hardy ones.

I LOVE that movie. Plus, I live in Iowa, so it also has that going for it. I’ve never been to the Iowa State Fair, though, which seems to be a travesty of epic proportions. I’ve complained that my parents never took us, and they agree that it was a dumb thing to not do, considering it’s a two hour drive to Des Moines. I should try to make a weekend trip of it this year. 🙂
