Another week, another Helen Mirren movie {can there be too many?}. The week The Queen is on the menu. Helen Mirren plays The Queen, and is said to be amazing as the movie follows the moment that rocked the house of Windsor: the week that followed the sudden death of Princess Diana in 1997. I’m interested to see this one because I remember all the sadness and madness surrounding Princess Diana’s death.
Let me know what you think if you decide to watch it–or if you have already seen it.
Peace out Girl Scouts & have yourself a great weekend,

I watched it several years ago, and thought it was an interesting movie-very well done, and excellent acting by Helen Mirren. I remember some of the anger towards the Queen and her reaction or perceived lack of action after the Princesses death, and this portrayed not a glorified version of the Queen’s actions, but an understandable one. It is worth a good discussion with others after you watch it.

I LOVE this movie! Of course, I am obsessed with all things British and Royal (namely a hunky Prince Harry)! I was young with Diana died but I can totally understand the need for the family to stay away from all the craziness. I can only imagine how much harder it would have been for Princes William and Harry had they had to come back to London. And good on the Queen for staying with them to help them in their time of need. I think people forget that the Royal family are human also and no one in the same situation would want, or be forced, to deal with all the craziness when they are grieving. Given, of course that this movie is true…which we may never really know. Either way, a great movie and great acting by Helen Mirren.
